New developments in forced induction!
I was just browsing youtube vids today and check out what I found, apparently there is a new company that has stepped into the area of nitro engine forced induction. I know of all the debates, but their products actually look good and the mini supercharger sounds nucking futz haha. Even if it wont work on a nitro 2 stroke, if they get good reviews, one of them is going straight into my 1/8 Camaro project with a Saito 56.. Check them out:

Wow, I can't believe the lack of response. With the amount of questions we get about RB Innovations I'd think some people would be interested ;)

Hmmmm... I am not sure the problem with a new forced induction option is the discussion here. I need to check my notes, but I though that there was some reason that forced induction wasn't effective on nitro 2-strokes due to the physical operation of a 2-stroke motor.

whatever, just because it blows a piece of paper out of the way doesn't mean it's worth anything. Install one on an engine and show me a dyno chart of before and after, then I'll take a look. I don't expect them to do that, wouldn't want facts to get in the way of profits

This company looks to be brand new, like formed within July so give it some time before word spreads. They just need exposure and guidance, those Aussies ;)

I noticed that OS makes a 4 stroke engine for RC cars. That would be something to try this on. Might have to make a custom cam to take full advantage of it, but I bet it could work. I imagine it still wouldn't be worth it ($ wise)
Another thing, does this thing have the ability to actually compress air or does it just move air? Why don't any of these people who design this stuff show a test like that? It could be like a leaf blower....moves a ton of air but when it comes to compressing air it generates very little pressure. All this person has shown by putting a piece of paper in front of the outlet is that at most, it's just a leaf blower. That's just more proof that it's worthless and the builder knows it. |

Haha, them shiny leaf blowers ;). Those 4-stroke car engines are very outdated, plus they don't put out much power. I'll be using a 56 to power my project, but man that little blower sounds sweet even if there is no proof that it works.

If supercharging a 2stroke is to work, and work with significant power increases, as I have said dozens of times before, the sleeve intake and exhaust timing durations need to be very close to each other or the engine must have some sort of exhaust valve.
I possible means to accomplish this is to go with a movable exhaust gate (some companies call them a "valve") and this gate can either completely close to maximize the boosted charge going into the cylinder or to make the exhaust duration very close to that of the intake ports. http://ezinearticles.com/?Snowmobile...sics&id=902728 As for these guys making such a supercharger, I will expect that they not only sell you the supercharger, but also a modded sleeve with the intakes and exhaust durations close to each other to get some benefit of the supercharging. Why RB Innovations does not included modded sleeves to go with their superchargers, that is utter stupidity. |

^ lol you need to check out their site cause there are some questions you would have had answered. They do NOT claim to increase (or have any significant change) power in nitro 2-stroke engines. The benefits according them are smoother idling and a strong transition between idle and low end snap when the throttle is pulled- so no bogging according to them. 4-strokes is where its at for forced induction, possibilities are out there to make almost twice the horsepower over stock.

LOL. A good tune will keep the engine from bogging on acceleration. My truck rarely bogs, even when I hammer the throttle after it's been sitting for 30 seconds. When a nitro's tuned right, you'll know it and it'll last a long time. Sounds like scammers. Just like that little electric "supercharger" someone was selling for full-size cars/trucks a while ago. "Just stick it in the air intake tube, hook it up, and experience up to 10% increases in mpg and hp with no parasitic losses like belt driven varieties, for only $269.99." Or you can just replace your air filter with a high flow model and get the same results for $50.

Hey whatever, if it works or not I don't care, I just thought people might be interested in the fact that someone RB stepped up to the game. Hopefully it'll get some exposure to see if their products work at all.

Thats an airplane engine (same one as I have) with what looks like a boat clutch or something like that, I'd be really curious as to what hes using for his flywheel/ CB and shoes. Me wants to try!

Hey wait a sec, lets say all of this is useless for 4-stroke engines and whatnot, you could make micro jet engines out of them ;). People make them out of old turbos all the time :)

The compressor wheel design is awfully crude. The 90° transition in the compressor is downright lousy. They quote a whopping 1.5PSI of boost, with no flow rate specified. www.microboost.com.au That's ten percent more air and theoretically HP, minus the shaft power required to turn it. You can get far more than 10% with standard modifications.

Yes, a compressor map; that graph would let us know if this thing is actually doing what it is intended to do: Give an effective boost!
Also, a dyno graph would be definitive proof too; the graph of the engine without the compressor (control run) And then another graph of the very same engine with the compressor mounted. |

Did anyone really pay attention to that setup on the 5B? One blower is driven of the crank, the other in driven off the first. The second should have some incredible RPM looking at the pulley arrangement. The strange part is that the first is not feeding the second blower. They both feed into the manifold. I bet the first blower is surging. The second turbo must have a much higher pressure than the first, so the setup is all wrong.

Obviously you missed the huge pulley on the first unit and the tiny pulley on the second unit. The blowers do not turn at the same RPM, but feed a common manifold. Pause the clip at 1:05.
