What does this mean?

hey,
First time I broke out the old savage x since last fall to give it a go. Put a brand new glow plug in the picco .28, and everything seemed great. Sound's good, runs fast, plent of smoke trail and then it quits. First thing I usally do is check the plug; and the coil was squished for lack of better words. Why did my motor crush the coil in my new glow plug like that? First time it has happend to me, please advise. Thx

Hi
This is a simple tuning problem.Put a new plug in and turn the HSN half a turn Anti-Clockwise.That should sort it out.

as above.....a distorted glow-plug usually means it's too lean. Tuning requirements change with the weather. If it was running close to lean last year when you put it away, and it's a bit colder out this spring, then it will run lean at the same setting. So you need to richen it a bit. hmmmm.....hope I got that right

RE: What does this mean?

You could have the LSN set a bit rich and the HSN set a bit lean. That way, you see lots of smoke when you accelerate, but near the end of the high speed run, the engine leans out and the glowplug becomes damaged. If you were to run at WOT a bit further, you would likely notice the smoke stops.
