trouble with engine
So i picked up 2 rc10gt's one has a pull start on it. cv-r .18 engine. Any who when i pull the pull start the engine pistons moves and so will the clutch bell gear, however the fly wheel does not. Also when i am trying to start i can see fuel in the line to the carb but also fue in the line to the exhaust and the exhuast will drip after pulling the starter so many times.

RE: trouble with engine
first it sounds like the flywheel retainer nut is loose, you have to remove the clutch bell to see it. second are the fuel lines hooked up backwards, or maybe you might want to clean out the engine and carb really well as there may be junk in the lines or rust deposits in engine and/or the carb.

RE: trouble with engine
carb cleaner works good for alloy and shabbernigdo's right keep it off the rubber or plastic.i live in cali so i don't know if you guys ever heard of it, but there is this degreaser i use called LA's awsome, and i gotta say with lite scrubbing with an old toothbrush it will cut through bake on engine oil and pretty much anything i've thrown at it.
and it safe for plastic ,rubber , aluminum. also steel with quick rinse after scrubbing and heat dry. |
RE: trouble with engine
well cleaned the carb reset the needles to factory settings and...no luck. theres no holes in my lines, or tank, i primed the engine, glow plug and ignitor are good. Any ideas?

RE: trouble with engine
the pressure tap on the tank is at the top, right? if you fill the tank too full, maybe? how are you priming the engine?
the only reason i ask is when the piston is on the down stroke it creates a low pressure in the comustion chamber, and the next port that opens is the exhaust, maybe if the tank is too full that suction created by the low pressure is suckin' fuel up the pressure tap when the exhaust port is opening? i'm just brain stormin' ,so i may not be right. of course this is only if you're putting your finger over the exhaust outlet to prime the engine. i would blow into the pressure tube on the tank for priming |
RE: trouble with engine
figure it out. brought it to the lhs. Some how the carb fuel inlet was gunked up even though my other motor ran with the same carb. either way its running. thanks guys!
