Kregg,
May be a silly question, the exit holes in the bottom deck of the engine box for the canisters, are you cutting on large slot for these or two single holes? My pipes are very close to the u/c plate (front exit MTW's), just wondered what you had thought of doing as your pictures seem to show a similar thing.

I have some updates on the 260 i'm building and i finally have it covered.I have to glue the canopy yet and get the cowl and wheel pants painted.I went with metallic plum(the pics show a metallic blue) and will have custom graphics made for it.I put a couple pics of the carden 40% extra i did this past spring that was all yellow and had graphics made for it.

Here are a few quick shots of my 260 progress. I mounted the wings and fitted the stabs last weekend, just dont have a pic yet. I went with the tapered ailerons on the wings, FYI.

RE: 40% Carden Extra 260 - My 1st Carden Build
Sorry I dropped out for a while. Life has gotten in the way of my building. I hope to get back to the building in a week or two.
James,
Nice pix of your two 260s. Could you talk about your custom wing graphics on your yellow one? I would like to understand how your graphics were made and applied. Most people would have those graphics airbrushed on, but I have been thinking about some type of digital process. Maybe like the cars or vans you see with large graphics wrapping the shape. These are usually commercial vehicles and the process is probably cost prohibitive. Any thoughts?
Thx,
Kregg

RE: 40% Carden Extra 260 - My 1st Carden Build
Kregg, i had the graphics designed at a place called www.speedgraphics.net and they did a great job. The graphics are called slam wraps.I looked around at several different companys and no one could produce the look of fire going over the wings until i happen to of did a search on google and this place came up.They were expensive to have designed ($500) and the graphics alone are $700.I Think they were worth every penny. The plane has been a hit at every event i attended this year and the sun shinning on the wings is really awesome.Probably the best look is doing a blender with the smoke on and you can see the fire through it.You can go on the site and go into the discussion forums and look under miscellaneous graphics and i have close up pics of all the graphics they designed. Now for the downside of the graphics, they weigh about 2 pounds.I'm curious to see how much less the new plane is going to weigh compared to yellow one.The wing graphics were pretty easy to apply, you had to make sure they laid down right and that you used a plastic scrapper to get them to lay down without bubbles. The graphics are durable enough se an iron on them if the monokote gets a bubble under it.Right now i'm getting graphics made for the 260 ( actually the yellow one is a 330) and i haven't decided on what i'm doing yet, i do know that the wings won't be wrapped this time with graphics to help cut down on the weight.

Kregg, I have been dealing with Eric Bryant of B and E graphics and he has been great to work with and very reasonable. He is bryant330l here on RCU and the flyingcirkus. He just started making the digitally printed plane wraps. They can be seen here http://www.bandegraphix.com/ From what I understand, he can put any image imagineable on the vinyl and cut it to fit a plane. Check him out. Craig

Wow, just stumbled on this thread. First off, thanks Craig for the nice words. It is always a pleasure working with you also. Jjames that is a very good looking plane. This is the first plane wrap that I have ever seen except for the ones that we have done. I did not know anyone else offered this service. Yours is very, very expensive, but looks awesome. For anyone interested in a digital wrap, for now I charge a total of $0 for the design of the wrap. It does take hours to do, but I like it and the special vinyl and the printing is expensive enough without me throwing more cost into the product putting it out of reach for most people. Secondly, if you can get the plane to us, we will apply it for free also! I think the digital printing is the graphics for the future, since it looks so awesome. Not sure why yours weighed so much, I wrapped my 34% Extra and it only added 15-16oz. Kregg, your build looks fantastic and you will be rewarded with a terrific airplane when you get it finished.

RE: 40% Carden Extra 260 - My 1st Carden Build
The reason the graphics were so heavy was they were printed on heavy 3m vinyl for cars.He didn't realize weight was an important issue and i didn't even think they would weigh that much until i pulled them out of the tube he sent them in.He did say they have a lighter vinyl i could of had it printed on,i guess live and learn.I did take a pic of the engine on the plane and emailed it to him and he put it in the tear on the cowl, i thought that was a cool design. He did say it takes a lot of time to design something for someone thats why it was so expensive.

RE: 40% Carden Extra 260 - My 1st Carden Build
Hi folks. I just wanted to drop you a line and say I'm not dead. The holidays and business life have been very challenging to say the least. I'm just getting back to my 260 build. I cut the servo bays and wire tunnels the other day. I used the wire and soldering gun trick and its nice and smooth. Wing sheeting is ready to be glued on. I'm just trying to find the perfect surface to ensure nice straight wings.
It looks like Albert has taken up my slack and started his own 260 build thread. I will be using his pix for guidance as well.
Sorry I dropped our for a while.....
