Here is an idea of the color scheme and more photos will be posted next week. The hatch and all fiber glass parts are in the paint shop...

Hi Scoubidou
I'm about to start building the same kit. Have not decided engine/exhaust solution yet.
Do you know where your CG ends with the pipes?

I did a first CG balance test and i am about 3/4'' behing the recommend CG ( tail heavy ). I can easily set to the recommend CG by moving front my 2 2300mA A123 batteries near the wing tube.
I still have some vinyl to install and set the servos horns but i'am satisfied of the result.

From your pictures I can see that you have moved the rudder servo. Have you done anything else to get the cg forward?
I plan to lighten all stucture aft of the canopy. I was thinking of a ZDZ 100NG with KS86 pipes in this model, but the ZDZ is very light.
It is 450g/15oz lighter than DA100. I will rather use a DA than a ZDZ and end up with lead weights in the front.
Do you have the final weight yet?

RE: 35% Extra 260 on tuned pipes thread
Hi Tor
My expereience with ZDZ engines tell me they answer very well with tuned pipes. I would go with two AMT tuned pipes if you want to go with ZDZ100 NG instead KS86 canisters. Specially if you want to use it for IMAC.
There is not much wood/foam to remove forward the canopy since Carden hatch come already cut but it should be probably lighter to use monokote instead painting the hatch like i did. I saved a lot of weight with CF Graphtech landing gear.
I'll post the final weight when completed.

I ment the KS1060 tuned pipe. I'm using both the KS86 canisters and the KS1060 in other models and mixed them up.
My concern is the light weight of the ZDZ100NG and that it needs tuned pipes to give enough power.
Both will move the CG aft.
Most likely I will end up with the DA.
Today I am competing in IMAC Intermediate with a Aerotech RC models 37% Cap232 powered by 3W106CS.
It is very light, 28lbs, and has a lot of power but it requires some mixing to track straight in knife edge.

RE: 35% Extra 260 on tuned pipes thread
Hi Jamy
Sorry but i ordered my headers to DA and you just have to specify it's for the 35% Carden 260. They will give you the right headers drop. Presently, i have the same power with the KS-86 canisters on my other DA-100 Giles G202 combo than with this DA-100 on pipes.
DA asked my to return the pipes because they think i have the first generation of MTW pipes which they needs very long headers to work.
Here are some tacks: 6400 RPM on Mejlzilk 28x10 and 6600 on PT 27x10
The Extra 260 flies so well, very neutral and a lot better plane than my 40% WH Giles G202 on DA-100. I am hooked to Carden now.

RE: 35% Extra 260 on tuned pipes thread
There K&S 1090 tuned pipes. The tunnel is hand layed West Systems epoxy glass. Theres no wood in the tunnel at all. Engine DA 150 makes tons of power. You really have to be carefull I bent the wing tube on my secound flight. Pipes come on at about 1/8 throttle and will rip a 32x 10 prop at 2/3 throttle. Plane's total weight is 37.6 pounds. JR DS 8711 all the way around.

Daniel, thank you for sharing the video.
Any improvements in power?
Are you getting more power from the tuned pipe setup than the one with KS86?
It sounds like your engine is runing smooth and powerful.

RE: 35% Extra 260 on tuned pipes thread
Hello Tor
I could answer to you only next weekend because i am removing the DA-100 from the plane. I bought the engine used from someone on the internet and after 15 gallons of IMAC/3D flying this summer, the level of compression is very low when i compared to my other brand new DA-100 on Ks-86 canisters. The engine runs very rich and i always have the blue smoke with black carbon under the fuse whatever the needle valves settings? The engine does not run well, if i try to lean the low or or high valves.
I can get 6450 RPM with warm engine on Mejlzick 28x10 and 6500-6600 on cold engine first start of the day.
I did a dead stick last weekend and for these reasons, i am going to return it to DA for overhall inspection and cleanup.
I am installing my other DA-100 (still on breakin 32:1) and i'll get back to you with the RPMs next weekend. The throttle response is very crisp and good for 3D with the MTW pipes and i recommend them for IMAC if noise is an issue. It does not add weight compared to canisters.

I replaced the DA-100 by another one that has only 3 gallons burned. Now i can get 6700 RPM cold and 6550-6600 with a warm engine with 32 degree Celsius hot sunny day. You should hear the DA-100 ripping the prop at full throtle I would not go back to Pitt mufflers with that crazy power.

Thank you
I will go for pipes. The last three month I have only been flying. It is time to start building again and I had to decide about the pipes before I can continue. However I am leaning against KS 1060. I have very good experiance with Krumscheid.
By the way, are you satisfied with the midrange?

RE: 35% Extra 260 on tuned pipes thread
Yes i am and that's the main reason why i went the MTW pipes. When i call DA about pipes for the DA-100, they recommended me MTW for IMAC because they have better midrange than KS pipes but KS-1060 are more peaky and can give you bit more top RPM depending of headers lenght while you can use the stock MTW headers with their pipes.
Here is a nice graph from Pe Reivers with different mufflers
