I had the diff lock in my genesis. It worked great. It made the truck wheelie like crazy and got way better traction for bashing purposes. I would do it. It's pretty cheep to I think.

I have my center diff in my Genesis locked. It is a lot better. I guess the only down side is it wears out the drivetrain much quicker. I've only got a couple tanks thru the truck sinced I've locked the diff and I have no noticed any accelerated wear.

GS013 - Genesis
GSS14- Nemesis
They are not compatiable.

THe diff lock will give you overall power increase (wheelie down the street..etc) due to eliminating the center diff from diffing. However, the drawback is the parts will be put under more stres.

I tried to remove one of the (4) screws that hold the center diff together and stripped a screw head. I then torched another screw head thinking I could burn off any lock-tite and still had no success.
Anyone else had trouble removing these screws?

I tried to remove the diff screws multiple times, on two different differentials, but unfortunatelly had no luck. Those stupid screws have so much red threadlock on them that it would take large amounts of heat to burn it off, becuase emptying three seperate butane torches on to one screw multiple times yielded no result. I stopped becuase I was worried about the proximity of the diff bearing to the heat, and I wanted to drive the truck.

The drivetrain parts will be under more stress i.e. out drives, shafts, spurs., diff...etc Definitely watch out for foward/reverse motion with the center diff lock installed. Make complete stops before you make any direction changes. Diff Lock isnt as forgiving as center diff.

What type of wrenching are you using?

I sent my center diff to CEN today. Not sure why something that is made to be taken apart is so difficult to remove these screws.
It seems that the center diff should be a bit stiffer from the factory. My truck lights up the front tires real nice on take-off, kind of cool if this was a Honda Civic.

i dont know about locking the center diff but all i know is has anyone seen the roadrunner and cyotie show when the roadrunner does his jumping and takes off down the road, well thats the only way i can describe it how this thing takes off. it litterally at a stand still start it jumps off(now mind you maybe an inch or 2) the ground and takes off.i have never had a truck out of the box with no motor mods EVER do this.i know its hard to believe but i need to take some pics of this so you can see for your self.mabe its the moab tires that i put on it makes more toque because there smaller i dont know.

I have the 1st generation Genesis. The only few things that did wear out was the rear brake drive cup and rear diff drive cups. The gearbox gears and drive shafts are still very good.
Without the diff lock ,use 300 000 weight silicon oil in the centre. You can use 100 000 or 200 000 diff oil in the front and rear diff for better traction with or without the difflock piece.

Never mind on the last ?
I found out my self that 300,000 wont lock the center diff.
This truck came alive with just adding that to the center diff.[X(]
(Will) pop wheelies, the truck handles "a hole lot better"
easy'r 2 drive
Ill do 100,000 on the front and 50,000 on the rear.
Im glad i did it , was almost thinking of selling her.
I think with the stock set up (out of the box)it loose's most if not all of its power when 1 wheel gets of the ground.(which s%^#@ nuts).
Anyway thought i should let you guys know.

Locking the rear is not really a good idea, which i think it will cause it to push the back end out on turns.
As i have learn'd so far you really want the rear diff a little looser than the front.
(for better handling all around)

Hi,
I have instaled the center diff lock in my genesis, and the front wheels do lift a little bit more that the center diff installed but it still wont wheelie. Would this be because the engine is not tuned in properly (Even though it runs fine) or the fact I was trying it on grass?

I know we can wheelie at the race tracks and trade shows on dirt and carpet but havent ran much through the grass. Will test and respond in a few days.

I regularly wheelie in grass. In fact, riding wheelies in grass is very easy, even with full aluminum suspension(heavier) parts.. I tune the carb in grass because it seems to show subtle changes in power better i.e. wheelies, hard launches ect. however that is with the sniper pin tires, when I use the chevrons it will still wheelie just not as consistantly. the snipers or pins seem to grip better on grass in fact so much so when I go to the soccer feilds I actually tear paths in loose grass and expose the dirt below!!! I call it earth churning torque!!!lol good times

I installed the center diff lock in my Nemesis. Wow!!! What a difference it made in putting the power down to the ground. I couldn't keep the front end down.
I took it to the track to see how it would handle on the track. Man! was that thing hard to drive. I spent most of my time trying to keep the front end down. Unfortunately, my rear diff only lasted two 5min qualifiers. I split both side bevel gears completely in half.
I went back to the dependable stock diffs and haven't had a problem since.
As for the frozen screw problem. I used a propane torch and a quality hex driver. The screws came right out with little effort.

Try it on assphault or concrete. It could be the grass.
