Default CEN Magnum NX

Just wondering how everyone's Magnum has held up to bashing? Mine should arrive this week. Can anyone tell me of any problem areas that should be attended to prior to beating this truck regularly? What are this truck's weak points? Can anybody pull wheelies with their Magnum? Couldn't pass this truck up for the money. I'll be running with a Savage X and a Tower Teror. Think it'll keep up? Thanks. [8D]

The key problem with this truck is continusly stripping spur gears.Trust me,you will see what I mean in a short period of time. They do offer steel spurs but they will chew the aluminium pinions. They do offer a steelgeared clutchbell, but the crimp is so terrible that its also a waste of money.Me and a couple others have complained and cen could fix the problem by offering threaded steel pinions(same as stock, but steel)but no luck so far. Some may beg to differ, but trust me,you will see exactly what I mean.

Thanks for the info and video guys. I'll keep the spur gear issue in mind. Is this truck going to be able to keep up with the Terror and Savage X? I realize there is a bit of a scale difference, but the Magnum's lighter weight should erase some of that difference right?

Not sure about the Terror, but it will not keep up with the Savage without being modified.

Mods like a big block engine swap or what? What can I do to improve durability and acceleration?

this is a direct fit with no mods needed, I have it and it gives a Savage a run for its money[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGP7&P=ML]O.S. 18CV-RX w/11J Rotary Carb[/link]

I have an o.s. engine on mine.I also run 15/18 pinions. The stock motor didnt do well with that gear ratio,so before you go changing gear ratios, make sure you have enough motor to push it.Go to www.neweramodels.com and you will find every mod possible for a magnum. The big block kit, wheely bars and every aluminium part available for the magnum. The truck they have pictured is a MT2 orMT SPEC3.0 but dont worry because the only difference between it and the magnum is the body.I do like the red and yellow truck body better than the blue magnum body.Good luck and I hope this info is helpful.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I have 6 tanks through it and it seems pretty good so far, no signs of stripped gears just yet. I haven't really run it that hard though. Engine fires up easily and seems like a willing candidate for the job.

Should it go through spurs as much as the CT5 because it's the same transmission with different teeth cb/spurs.

How long does a spur gear last? Does the stock engine provide enough power for grass?

Half to 3/4 of a gallon. Will probably last longer if you dont jump.Grass is a issue but mostly because of ground clearance. It would do fine on a golf corse but doesnt have enough ground clearance for tall grass.

Not looking for anyother trucks.Would be nice to run the one I already paid for. This is not a compairson of vehicles, its about correcting an issue that should have never been an issue. So what are you saying? If youre saying that I should accept this just because it cost $300.00,you got it wrong, and the answer is yes.The MG16 is only$200.00 and has a slipper clutch so it wont even go through gears like this. And what do you mean by OUCH?Dont make this into something that its not.OUCH,if the truth hurts enough for you to say ouch, its not my fault. You know as well as I do that Im not the only one with this complaint. So theres your answer cen123.Any more questions?[:-]

Dont know about the redcat, never owned one.Probably cant beat the magnum now that cen has an upgraded clutchbell.Redcat is a knock-off in my book.Thats just MY opinion, redcat may be a winner for you,but Im not going to be bothered with it.

Will from what I've found out about redcat they are pretty decent. the main things I'd have to worry about is where to get parts. I've also read the radio system's horrible. I have a dealer to get parts and I have a separate radio system.
