Default CEN Website Public Annoucement

Dear CEN Owners

As you may already noticed, our website www.cenracing.com is down again. The hosting company, Startlogic, accidently deleted our entire server. Therefore, we lost everything we will be out of webiste for about 1 week minimum. We are doing the best we can to get the website going for everyone but we do have to start from scartch. Sorry about the inconverience.

The CEN Direct webiste www.cenracingdirect.com will still be in business since its under a different hosting.

If a hosting provider can't return your site to service for a week than that provider shouldnt be in business. That means their disaster recovery processes don't exist.

The CEN website is a key part of their business. Being offline for a week is definately grounds for some type of legal action if the provider doesnt offer up something in exchange for the potential loss of business. (especially if it is their fault the site was lost)

pede_kid - before you weigh in on this just dont. I've been responsible for customer online presence globally for some big companies. If their sites were down for a week they could lose millions.

don't wanna sound too judgmental here as i am not aware of the whole issue behind the downtime but kinda with dahlelama on this one... I do consultancy work in IT network administration and if the best DR plan i had in place was to provide a 1 week turnaround i am pretty sure i wouldn't have a single client retaining me... and i reckon they would definitely be looking to sue my ass if i even contemplated a 1 week lag!!!! the max i can run to is 60 minutes... 1 week to restore a system just seems extraordinary.

Hopefully the CEN guys will get some good news and be able to get it sorted soon.

One other thing that goes along with this type of outage.... everyone who has an email adress of [email protected] can't get or send email now either. If that were my business I would be coming unglued right now. I sent a couple emails to CEN early this morning and just got the delivery failure a couple hours ago. If those emails would have gone through today, I'll bet CEN would have been able to get what I needed out the door today and it would have been at my door Monday. Now I will have to call on Monday morning so the earliest I can get the new Buggy and Truggy into the hands of one of our local racers will be Wednesday which doesnt leave much time for him to get them built and tested out for next weekends two day race.

Like trarena said... I don't know any details behind the issue but I simply can't fathom a 1 week turn around service level. This kind of thing has huge impact. Ok... I'm done.

Which one of these StartLogic folks is responsible! Off with thier heads!
