its unfortunate that people have had bad luck i have been searching thru this forum and noticed alot of people complaining about loose screws and minor problems most good shops will tell you check truck over twice. when i bought my first tmaxx i made the mistake of not checking and the motor slid loose went over and found a lot of bolts loose. I have noticed tho that cen does not appear to be for the entry level r/c guy but one who has a lil patience to appreciate it the final product

Been that way for years... started with the MT2 and continues with all the other models... I've had very good luck with the ones I've had over the years... I guess its how you maintain them and your knowledge of basic setup.... Cen has been bashed by hobby stores forever mostly because they didn't sell them and the tendency was to bash what you don't carry... I've been to several shops that did this and after asking why they were so bad, the answers would amaze you... basically they didn't know what they were talking about... didn't want to start carrying a new line, so they bashed them and sold what they carried...

I disagree with you about hobby shops not carrying CEN then bashing them. I have worked at a hobby shop for several years now and never bashed them until recently. We HAVE carried their products but quit due to their lack of not standing by their warranty and their customer service. We have had run-ins with them several times not wanting to stand behind their products. We will no longer carry their products nor recommend them to anyone. They have very bad customer service and support. I would recommend Traxxas, Losi, Associated, OFNA, and Kyosho due to their customer service and them standing behind their warranties. These companies go out of their way for excellent service. Yes, I do have a right to bash CEN because we have carried their products and had nothing but bad luck out of CEN RACING!!

Heres what Cen did for a buddy of mine that had the first gen Cen genesis. He had nothing but problems with it and almost broke everytime out with the truck, got old quick. After tons of repairs and still breaking about everytime out he called cen and they told him there were updates since he bought his.The guy he talked to was super cool and told him he would be recieving a care package.A few days later a package showed and they basically sent him another truck we were amazed at what he got for FREE.He replaced everything with the new parts and has not looked back since.Truck is so good I went and got a gst for myself and have had no issues with it at all and is a beast.Like I said before not a great truck for a newbee but for someone experianced in nitro there great. If you have a decient attitude with them they will help if you go in *****ing they probibly won't help so be calm and collective and they will go beyond for you to get your issues fixed.Cen is great from my experiance.

We were very polite with them, we did not f**k them. Several customers had problems, we called and asked what could be done for them. The didn't warranty their issues as it said in the warranty policy. All were legitimate claims. Being nice to them didn't help.

Maybe something changed in management or something I don't no,just stating what Iv'e seen from them.It sucks no matter what if customers couldn't get issues fixed properly.I had simular issues with Duratrax a few years ago and have since vowed never to buy another one after all the problems I had with my warhead with no help from them.I have the Gst and a mg16 and couldn't be happier with both to bad you guy's had problems with Cen cause they make some good rc's.

Well I had a Magnum that had issues within the warranty period, for example the spur gear stripped, then the diff gears stripped when I changed the spur to the cnc gears. What it came down to was the weakest link in the drive train was breaking every time out. I tried to be nice when I contacted them despite my disappointment and all they said they would do is give me a deal on replacement parts, (remember this was withing the 60 day warranty period). They pissed me off by saying I needed driving lessons. Basically they put the blame on me not their product, so then they ignored me for 5 months. I bashed, and bashed and bashed I finally got through to Ken Wu, and he was a complete @$$ to me, I could here him snickering the whole time he was saying "we are not charity" so I called him out and said you won't replace parts under warranty. Then he says but "it been 5 month", well no **** sherlock you ignored my emails for the last five months.

Management must have changed. Our warranty issues have been here very recently. 93firebird - we had trouble with a man named Ken also. Don't know if his name is Ken Wu or not but this Ken was a complete a**hole! They did the same thing. They didn't warranty issues that were within their 60 day warranty period. Please people, stay away from CEN Racing!!! Go with another company that has great tech support, customer support and a company that stands behind their warranty! (TRAXXAS, Any Horizon brand (Losi, etc), OFNA, Kyosho, and Associated. All these companies will do you right if you have issues!

At first glance you would think that cen vehicles came down from the heavens to see how you people defend them. I own one of the original matrix buggies that was advertised to be the best thing going. What a joke from misshapen carb bodies to outdrives with nicks and soft spots in them straight out of the package;not to mention how proud cen is of their replacement parts. I have been in my lhs when the owner was on the phone with their so called customer service, and no matter how nice he was or what he tried to explain to the rep he was given the run around and ultimately told that they were not going to honor their warranty he should take it up with the wholesaler he got the vehicle from. For those of you who have cen products and no problems good for you if your among the other 95% of us good luck too you.

I'm not defending them,I'm telling my experiance with them nothing more.Like I said on another post maybe management changed, who knows for sure but could have something to do with the issues with warranty.I haven't had any issues so haven't needed anything but if your guy's claims are correct meaning no bs then it's defenetly a bumb deal from Cen.The guy that took care of my buddy was Eric, don't know if he still works there or not but thats who he delt with.He told my buddy that all of cens first generation runs have issues and are updated by the second run. This was the reason my buddy got the care package for his genesis, becouse his was a first gen genesis which was a pos no dought. It has been a solid truck since then,so much so that I bought a gst becouse of his being so tough.I have had a few small issues but nothing I couldn't figure out on my own.All rc's have issues just some are worse than others thats what makes it a hobby.Even the God of all rc's LOSI have issues that need to be worked out happens to the best of them.I would fix them so there rtr and sell them, thats what I did with my warhead.I lost money on it but the headach was gone and I bought something different so all was good.

Erik (aka "notch") is still at Cen... and is a stand up guy.

If you guys are having issues with Cen's support, and have purchased your Cen product through an authorized dealer (LHS, Cen Direct, or an authorized online retailer... NOT EBAY), please feel free to send me a PM. However, I do ask that you go through the normal channels first.

Wouldn't you know I take the trucks out again today, and true to their nature they are both once again down for repair. Broke the rototech start shaft off in the genesis and once again sheared the pilot shaft off of the magnum. Gear mesh set according to CEN's instructions. Just another demonstration that the weekest point in the drive line breaks every time out.

Well, like I said.. If you're actually having a problem with a warrantied product (not your "Ebay special" purchases), I'll be glad to help advocate your issue with Cen's customer service.

However for people like Firebird93 that continually come on here and demonstrate their inaptitude and inability to understand that "used" means just that, used... we'll all just continue to smile and nod. I kicked you off of the Cen forums, after giving you numerous chances, and now its just funny to see you get called out repeatedly.

Anyways Firebird93, take care and try to enjoy what you have. If not, perhaps you'll try something else and realize that you have to maintain that as well.

the Magnum was not used it was purchase from a CEN authorized dealer and again was new in the box. Still CEN would not warranty anything, It is not an isolated issue it is well documented on CEN's web site as well as here that others have had similar issues with the drive train first the plastic spur gears then when those are changed to the steel the diff gears go out. And RUUNE its hard to enjoy a product when it is continually broken. So once again kiss my...

LMAO We have finally had some nice weather and last week alone went through a gallon of fuel.I have the gst broke in and it's a animal for sure.I had a issue with shifting but it was a easy fix and now I have it shifting flawlessly.I'm curently at about a gallon through the gst with NOOO issues.I will get a video of mine so you can see how they run with a experianced rcer at the wheel.I have put the gst through the same things as my muggy, aftershock and monster pirate with no issues. The gst is a great truck but it's not for the beginner rcer and thats what it sounds like you are firebird. Thanks Cen for making such a awsome truck.

Glad to hear it man. I've got a nemesis w/ the 7.7, and it's rock solid. For those that are uninformed, tiger drive is not a Cen product. However there will always be people that think this sort of thing is the OEM's problem. Perhaps trying the Cen Rotostart backplate would alleviate his worries, but I digress. On the other hand, I use a hi-torque dewalt drill with a rotostart bit, and havent had any trouble with my 7.7.

Well I was using the CEN rotostart unit when the start shaft broke off in the rear back plate. I switched after the tiger drive broke. I only used the tiger drive because the CEN rotostart is so hard to find, almost like it has been discontinued. I had the genesis running on saturday afternoon with the typical pain in the ass issue of tuning at one point the temp went as high as 500 degrees, with no modification from the last time it was run, unless of course the rc gremlins broke in to my house and went into my basement and adjusted my carb settings. And yes the carb has been sealed as well as the back plate of the motor. So I'm glad that you two happened to receive a couple of the few trucks out there that haven't had any issues such as the out drives breaking which seams to litter CEN site, and what is there solution for this, "oh just buy the Nemesis upgrade and they wont break" It amazes me that you guys sit here and assume that I am new to the hobby and that everything going wrong is my fault and not the fault of the product.
Take your noses out of Ken Wu's butt and you might smell the other stuff he's putting out is crap too!

Firebird, everytime you write something here you prove your inexperience.. EVERYBODY knows that everytime you start ANY nitro engine there is some tuning you will need to do!!! Even while you run it you will need to tune, the air pressure around changes everyday, sometime during yuor run the air pressure around you changes ad requires more tuning..

Get a clue pal, nitro is NOT for you!! sell it and move on, stop making a clown of yourself..

oh look another butt kisser to add his two cents. I trust your word as much as comrade Obama!! so what you are saying is if I fart at one end of my yard my nitro engine will require less fuel due to the difference in barometric pressure.

So I'm a problem because I have two CEN products that are in constant need of repair with minor running. HHHHmmmmm interesting. By the way Derrick how is your magnum doing these days? Oh wait you through the piece of junk in the trash didn't you, so what does that make you a two face Kiss up just like the rest of them. I started this thread because I'm tired of wrenching on the so called greatest products in the world. I might get an hour a week to run them on the weekends and I don't think (my LHS agrees) that it is right that I should have to spend so much time wrenching on them. They do not sell CEN or carry any parts because they agree they are junk, they will not even work on my trucks. having to spend 45 minutes of that one hour a week trying to make junk run is not very fun. If I had the money to go buy a new truck from my LHS I would but since I have a conscience I can not unload this junk on an unsuspecting individual like you would have me to do and since none of you are offer to buy them for a fair price than I'm stuck with them. So derrick you go cry to whoever you want there has been absolutely no help for me here much like there was no help with the magnum when it was in the warranty period. The magnum continues to break the weakest links in the drive train, and the Genesis starts only when it wants to and when it does continues to be a real pia to tune. Issue my local hobby shop assures does not happen with other brands as often as they do with CEN.
