Genesis running at high temp

Hello,

I'm hoping to get a little info on something that may help me with tuning the engine correctly. I have had the Genesis for about 3 weeks now. It's only had a half gallon of Trinity 20% nitro fuel run through it. The problem I'm having is I can't keep the engine from getting too hot and losing all power and eventually shutting down. I've tried richening it up, but it still continues. I've set the needles back to factory specs numerous times and tried dialing it in from there but no matter what fuel setting I adjust it to, it will always run hot. I don't have a temperature reader, but you can smell the heat and a drop of water will boil instantly. Any recommendations on what might be causing this ?

Also, is there any easy way to identify a third generation truck over a second generation? I'm skeptical on whether or not mine's a third generation like I was told when I bought it.

Thanks in advance !

if your truck has the lock block installed in the center diff you have a 2nd gen genesis if you have the gears in the center diff you have the 3rd gen genesis.

Anyone have any ideas on why my engine would be continually overheating ?

i suggest getting a temp gauge.I know you can tell by water but i think its worth the money for the cost of a new engine is high.First make sure your stock settings are correct some people post from flush some post out from tight.I had this problem reason im stating this.I also bought a nova head for my genesis to add power. www.rushrc.com has all the genesis stuff i need.Let us know what ya find out.THanks for all the posts.

Change your glow plug to a cooler one. I take it you are using the the one that came with the truck (hot) try a warm instead. Outside temperatures also affect the running temp of the truck.

Oh one more thing... what is the oil content in your fuel.....?

You should have at least 15% oil mixture in your fuel. I am using 18% oil mix with a 25% nitro fuel... the engine never shuts down on me.

I asked CEN Racing this question ages ago but i never did get a reply from them.
