MT2 accelerates out of control!

I have a MT2 that I broke in just as the handbook stated. The truck ran fine and I was in the process of leaning the engine when I had some gear problems. I changed the gears and now about half throttle, the truck takes off and I can't control it. My street has sloped curbs or the truck would be runined. It hits the curb, cartwheels into a yard and when it lands, I can drive off the lawn. The truck is fine until about half throttle. I changed all of the batteries and have the same problem. Any ideas?

Okay, I ran my truck in a park with a friend who has a new ST2. My once I hit mid throttle, it sticks and won't stop. Now my buddy's ST2 did the same thing. His hit second gear and never looked back. When he got to the truck the throttle was stuck on wide open. We took the truck back to our supplies and when he turned it off and then back on, the servo moved the throttle back to the starting position. We both were running brand new batteries from different stores.
What do you think is the problem?

i dumped the cen reciever and stuck a acoms reciever in, i now have very few probs with the cen radio and servos.

u guys really must invest in a failsafe. its the first upgrade anyone should do, if the truck runs off, u kill the tranny and it hits the brakes for u - so long as u set it up ok... that will stop ur trucks crashing at least. get a good one tho - i got the gws fs-1, works great, never failed... yet...

Same here... Without question, junk the stock trans/ rec and if you can the servos.... They are all junk...... The truck is great just not the radio gear..... I have not had a single radio problem since switching out the gear.....

RE: MT2 accelerates out of control!

Thanks for the advice. This is my first truck and had no idea. I ordered the Hitec Aggressor FM Radio System with HFS-03MM and 1 HS-325HB Servo and Hitec HS-645MG Servo last night. Too bad it is not in time to keep my truck from taking off out of control to hit a fence post and destroy the front left wheel assembly. Live and learn I guess. Thanks again also for the fail safe advice. If any one is wondering about that go to http://www.ofna.com/failsafe-micro.html and read about it.

I think this should be a warranty issue now.

RE: MT2 accelerates out of control!

It is warranty issue with cen and they will gladly help you... All they will do however is send you the same thing again.... I already went thru this. As bad as this sounds, just buy a new radio and receiver and your problems will go away..... Don't forget the fail safe.

RE: MT2 accelerates out of control!

If CEN is reading this, there is a supplement in the MT2 handbook about the breaking in process. Just add two more, one on gear meshing and the other one about investing in a fail safe.

Thanks for eveyone's help!

RE: MT2 accelerates out of control!

The gear mesh is just a fact of life... They should explain it better but that happens... The failsafe is just common r/c knowledge... It should be mandatory at all tracks... as a matter of fact it should come with all vehicles, but unfortunately, in order to save a few $$ they don't.......

I just had to report this. I ordered the failsafe and even with the failsafe installed, the MT2 still raced out of control. The fail safe could not pull the servo back to the brake position. The throttle was stuck wide open. I had to use a screwdriver to get the servo back to neutral. Does anyone have a copy of the warranty from CEN?

RE: MT2 accelerates out of control!

which failsafe did u fit?

u do understand how they operate dont u? if the truck makes a run for it then u sometimes have to switch ur transmitter off (i know - it sounds silly) so that the failsafe realises it is not recieving a signal, and then it will apply the brakes - so long as u setup the failsafe correctly...

apols if u know all this, i am unsure as to ur level of knowledge in rc, im not trying to be patronising or anything like that, hope that helps somewhat.

oh and i hope there is no/little damage to ur truck - it sucks when this kind of thing happens.

RE: MT2 accelerates out of control!

Poor Judgement, I am new to nitro but boy am I learning alot. I pruchased the OFNA fail safe and had it set to brake when I turned off the radio. Of course the truck hit a house and then proceeded on into a neighbor's shrub. I lost a shock and that rod that turns the front wheel. The servo was stuck open and I had to push it to neutral with a screwdriver. Of course my friend with the Revo is just shaking his head. The failsafe worked fine until that last run. I called CEN and they told me to send in the servos and the broken parts. I don't mind the broken parts so much because that makes me learn how to change certain parts. I am worried that there might be engine damage from running wide open while upside down. Thanks for all of your advice PJ.
