JT Racing chassis problems.
 

I was wondering if anyone can help, I am in the process of converting my FF with the JT Racing upgrade chassis and I have hit a few problems. The top plate has the holes drilled slightly askew from the original fixtures but that isn't really a problem as I want to custom build a top plate to allow the use of the New Era roll cage. What is a problem though is the chassis is longer than stock and the main driveshaft will not locate properly in the cups. Is there a simple solution to this or am I going to have to find a new one to fit?

I also have the JT Racing chassis for my MT2. JT told to me add one shock o-ring to the drive cup on one end to take up the slack with the drive shaft installed. This was enough to keep the shaft in place and centerd well. Their chassis is only about 1/8" longer. The JT top plate that came with the their chassis fitted up properly for me.

Managed to get it to fit after a little bit of fettling! Cheers for the tip on the drivetrain, should be able to get it sorted now.

You can also use small pieces of fuel tubing to take up the gap.
I belive Renegade or JT sells longer cups or used to.

i put the drivecups slightly inboard, and used a bit of fuel hose with mine. i also did the diff cup mod on the cups as the shaft wasnt sitting at the bottom of it anymore.

That fuel hose trick worked a treat. It is sitting better now than it ever did! Decided against a custom top plate, managed to get JT top brace to fit. Going to make a custom roll cage instead. Let you know how I get on.

u werent trying to fit the jt top plate on the cen were u mate? it wont fit cos thats the section with the extra length in, i believe. but it fits the jt chassis ok, or at least it should do.

i looked at a custom cage for a while, but decided to go with lightweight, and stiffeners only where i really needed it, and the theory that if i dont crash - i wont need a cage.... i dont have a pic of all the bits i did to the chassis in the end, but these should give u some idea of where im coming from...

i used engine spacers and alloy servo mounts, along with cut down radio posts, also a simple rod brace from the brake seat to either the front or rear toplate screws works well. the better location of the alloy servo mounts made the most difference as this also helped out with the toplate mounting - much more solid than the plastic parts, especially with the alloy brake seat.

It was the JT chassis that the top brace wouldn't quite fit on. I just had to reem the screw holes a bit and it went together ok. The roll cage will be a simple three point job, mounting points will be at the hole drilled for the exhaust mounting, one where the top brace meets the throttle servo and the back mount will be in the centre hole in the rear shock plate. Although it would definitely be better not to crash, my driving skills don't leave that as an option! How you getting on with those buggy shocks?

glad to hear it went together ok in the end.

i wish my driving skills were as good as i dream too... theres not a lot to hit on the beach tho.

im waiting for the shocks to arrive from the US, my arms should be here in a few days too... suspension arms... before u say it. i cant wait to get it all together, i hope it works ok.
