atx grip problems
i know the atx is a lightweight buggy but i have great trouble getting the power to the road in off road conditions.
has anyone got any recomendations and links for some good tyres that fit the standard wheels without turning it into a mt2 my mates have a revo and and a genisis and i feel i can still outdrive them if i had some good offroad grip cheers |
RE: atx grip problems
what tyres are u using and on what surfaces?
the looser the surface, the longer the spikes/deeper and wider the tread the better. |
RE: atx grip problems
still got the standard atx whhels and tyres at the moment and still getting wheelspin on the loose and its almost undrivable in the wet on tarmac

RE: atx grip problems
the standard tyres aint all that bad as allrounders, they wear pretty well too, compared to all the other tyres i have tried. try something with longer spikes for the loose stuff, but be aware tarmac will wreck spikes... i personally havent found anything that works brilliantly on all surfaces, the dirt hawg buggy tyres are pretty good, but they ballon up too easily which is a shame, as they are dead sticky on most stuff.
try ebay, i got a load of very hard long spiked, low profile tyres off there for about a fiver a set, fine for bashing and cheap as chips. i think hpi do some good onroad tyres in 2.2", but they are pricey. sorry i cant be off much more help, if ur running on very varied ground then its hard to comprimise. check that ur carb only opens to full throttle when the tx stick is all the way up, and feed the power gently - makes ur tyres last loads longer, but just doesnt look as impressive... oh and in the wet.... well..... good luck!! |
RE: atx grip problems
I am using Proline Dirt works tyres on my truck and so far they have been brilliant. They grip as well as the stock tyres on grass and seem to grip surprisingly well on tarmac too. The only down side is as poorjudgement says, they have a large side wall and will balloon quite a bit. Well worth a tryout though.

RE: atx grip problems
To help control the ballooning you can run a strip of duct tape on the inside of the tire.
