its tmaxx baby yea!

it needs to be beefy, they get some hammer... i was looking at prices for the alloy hubs today actually, my plastic ones have a bit of play in them - slight wobble on the wheels. the extra weight wont hurt ;) 30 quid for 4 tho, but integy do some nice ones too...

What about these bad boys? Got their titanium engine plate for the Savage and the quality is excellent. http://www.hcrracing.com/product/trx...321/silver.jpg
The Unlimited Engineering ones offer more adjustability but at $33 each, they may be a bit O.T.T.!

ooer! bit posh for me them mate!

60 bucks a pair??? i might go for the cheaper ones - gpm or rpm jobbys - will see how this new job of mine works out (and pays out) over the next couple of weeks.

Scouser 11-27-2005 10:35 AM

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

RPM would be the ones to go for. I have read a few stories about the GPM stuff being a bit on the soft side! That said though, they are probably all made by the same people anyway. Whatever you choose mate, the truck is looking great, got some GS buggy shocks for mine and will be heading for the beach tomorrow, weather permitting.

tape that hole up under the spurs then mate - the sand will kill those gears within a few tanks.

trust me on that one! try and try to stay off the loose dry stuff too - its a killer on the gears... bloody good fun tho...

forgot - u got any pics of the shock setup? also i found this [link=http://www.twf8.ws/new/tech/shocks/springratefront.html]spring chart[/link] for 1/8 shocks - might be of some use to u...

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

ya no kidding tape the hole!!!!!!!!!!

Scouser 11-27-2005 07:31 PM

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

Yeah, I know that from experience. Last beach trip ground my clutch bell gears down within three tanks! That was totally on the soft stuff though, its just impossible to resist those dunes! Thanks for that link mate, I have several options for the setup. I managed to win a set of option springs from ebay and can switch between loads of different combos. I'll post some pics up tomorrow.

optional spring set eh? hmmm do u have the sellers name? i am after some soft springs still, think ive found what i want, but a set would be ideal.

are u using front shocks all round?

oh and does anyone know ifl tmaxx springs will fit the 1/8 buggy shocks?

Scouser 11-28-2005 11:02 AM

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

They are the GS ones. Part numbers GS68020 for the mini ones, GS68022 for the fronts, GS68024 for the rears. Front ones are the most useful to the CEN but the little stubby ones do give a bit of extra tunability. £12.85 a set from DMS. I'll go and get some pics of the CEN with the shocks on and post them up in a bit.

Here you go mate, GS pro buggy front shocks with included shock boots (to keep the sand off!) Last pic is a comparison to the CEN aluminum upgrade ones.

very nice mate, i didnt realise they were dual spring/rate/uknowwhatimean - i might have to have a look at those!

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

Oh aye, very suave me you know! They are the buisness though. The shocks are really well made and the springs allow it to sit just where you want it to without having to use spacers. The ones on it at the moment are soft enough to allow the chassis to slap but the shocks have got 40wt in them so they are just right for the arms level stance that I reckon gives the CEN its best handling. Well worth a look see.

howd the beach session go? any pics/vids?

and wheres ur JT chassis??? [X(] i expected DrHs towers to be on that...

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

ya i like to see some pics and or vids if you have.

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

Well the beach session was postponed due to inclement weather. Driving rain and snow to be exact. Its alright though, I got a Savage ready for flea bay and picked up a second GS Storm. This will be my winter project. Gonna try to hybrid the Savage and the new Storm. Might call it H-pigs. (kidding!)
The JT chassis is sitting with a complete rear diff assembly, brake seat and rear battery box waiting for a 2wd front bulkhead to come up on ebay. It will be a single speed 2wd racer when its finished but that looks a LONG way off! In the mean time the stock chassis is coping very well and the New Era Roll cage makes it a much more sensible option for thrashing around, especially now the ground is pretty well frozen.

finally my wheels and tyres arrived! talk about low profile... these should be a good compromise between the buggy wheels and the brick pins with a bit of luck. overall diameter is the same as the buggy wheels. oh - the tyres are panthers med/soft lp komodo dragons incl foams btw. wheels are more romulins, obviously.

not too sure about the blue tho... but the price was right.

Scouser 12-02-2005 12:47 PM

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

I like them mate. The overall look of the truck is brilliant. Kinda looks low and mean and the tyres compliment it. As for the blue, well its a pretty good excuse to go and get a new shell and devise a matching colour scheme!

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

cheers, im not running it while its cold tho, prefer to save the motor... got some associated clutch bells coming to use with the hyper 10 steel pinions when it warms up - 15/19t on 43/39t spurs, lol thats ct4 ratios! should be quite amusing...

hmmm new shell... i also just recieved some slicks on 2.2" "super size" rims for the centre diff setup, but seeing as the escudo shell was cut to take offroad tyres... it looks silly, so a new one may be in order there, if i can find another...

so another truck shell... wellllllll, may as well grab one while im at it eh? any suggestions? it needs to be an electric truck shell mind, its a T4 cowd pleazer, that there goldish one i have for it...

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

Low 'n' wide indeed mate. Looks very fetching, love those Tmaxx hubs, might have to invest in some of them myself. As for the bodyshell, Parma do some wierd ones that are pretty cool. Might be worth a browse at their site.

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

i got some soft springs and lighter shock fluid on the way, along with the bells that will fix my steel pinion woes, with those and a swap/mod of engine mounts - i do believe it is about finished at last... again...

i just need to get my ass into gear to video it so u guys can share in the giggles. gonna work on my other chassis in the mean time... now where is that thread...

oh - if anyone knows of anywhere in the uk stocking Hpi super size shells, giz a link please, i am struggling a bit on that one - escudo is preferable, any 280mm wheelbase except the lambo with do tho i guess, cheers.

Hey PJ whats the overall diameter of those komodos?

theyre about 115mm/4.5" mate. with these it might well be possible to use some tmaxx wheels with maybe 1/2" offset, maybe more... i wouldnt like to say without trying some, but it looks very promising even with my highly technologically advanced exhaust manifold as i can move it about a bit... tons of clearance for a skinny bodyshell too - dunno if thats what u were thinkin, just thought id mention it.

pic at full compression and full lock - remember stock exhausts will have more room than mine to play with. my shell is a crowd pleazer from a T4 btw - whatever that is...

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....

scouser... I just picked up a gs storm sut for $20 US from a friend. she crashed the truck hard into a curb after a runaway.. bent some front parts and blew the engine... bent con rod and piston... I straightened the bent alum..(steering rod) and shock tower and replaced the engine with a spare .21 nitro star I had.. Ran it for the first time yesterday and ran great... a little loose in he snow but ran great.. What can you tell me about this truck? have to get used to a single speed in a big truggy, but it handles so well.....
