clutchbell problem

Have had my funfactor atx for about 5 months, going very well but have done 3 clutchbells. There not striping gears but just breaking the weld that holds the gears to the bell itself. I have it meshed correctly. Is this a common problem or is there something i'm missing.
any help much appreciated.
Thanks wayne

RE: clutchbell problem

yea, the bells with the pinions already screwed on are a right pain! they are stuck on well enough to make removal, without damaging the gears, very difficult. and yet the gears are all too happy to fly off once in a while - they go with enough speed to put a nice hole in ur shell... the bells are available without the gears, and the pinions are also available seperately.

i have here a cen 14/18 bell that is all one piece, its plain silver in colour, but i dont have a part number im afraid - it seems to wear better than the coloured pinions too - see if u can find one, i will keep an eye out for u mate.

The MT2 11/14 gears are aluminum and threaded on meanwhile all of the other ones are steel. I'm not sure if they are threaded or not but, I don't think they are threaded.
As far as the breakage goes this is not a common problem that I am aware of.

RE: clutchbell problem

I mean the factory 2 speed bells that have the gears already on them.
Here is a list of the bells T15-18 G84307-04, T14-17 G84308-04, T14-18 G84310-04.
I only have one 15-18 factory CEN bell and it is steel and it apears to be unthreaded but I don't want to mess the gears up to see if it is. I read somewhere that only the 11-14 bell is threaded and uses aluminum pinions and all of the others are one piece steel units with the gears permanently attached and all of the CEN bells that I have seen, this has been true so far.

cheers, i thought for a moment that i had missed something there regarding steel pinions. u just reminded me that i have the 14/18 steel set - i will give those a bash first with the new motor i reckon.
