RE: Fail Safe

I'm not familiar with a gws failsafe but I use the venom one... I only use them in all my nitro trucks and they have saved me many times... I'm not sure what specs you are looking for... Yes its small and comes in a beautiful green color... As far as I know, they all will fit into the cen/Airtronics receivers....

My MT2 has been running away lately, and I think I'm gonna get a xtm failsafe.

I have 2 of the Venom temp failsafes and switched back to the standard ofna and duratrax failsafes. I had a problem with the wire that runs around the cooling head wearing through and shorting out. All kinds of freaky things happen then. You can buy replacement cables and Venom even sent me one for free. They are a good company and I really like their temp failsafes, but I could not keep the temp sensor wire intact. You might have better luck than I did. I had mine mounted on top of the receiver box.

RE: Fail Safe

can u slide a bit of fuel hose over the cable to stop it chafing thru?

here is an older pic of my mt2 with the original engine... The venom failsafe mounted on the servo is 2 years old and still has the original wire probe.. The location and the fuel tubing really help

RE: Fail Safe

how neat and tidy is that? man, thats more colour coded than an essex boys 1988 ford escort rs turbo. and thats sayin something. how do u do it?

more to the point - whats with that strange T junction in ur fuel line to the carb? :)

RE: Fail Safe

Hmmm. Never really thought about putting the wires through fuel tubing, I must admit that is a good idea. The part of the line I had a problem wearing out was the part of the cable at the very center where it goes around the cooling head. It is thicker than the rest of the cable and it would get spots where the metal cable would come through then it would ground on the motor. Maybe I didn't keep it tight enough around the head, not sure.

RE: Fail Safe

well i dont have any fuel tubing but, mounting it on the servo looks like a good idea(how did you stick it to the servo)

RE: Fail Safe

A strip of velcro should work to hold it in place. You could also use a good double sided tape, maybe like the tape you can buy at the hobby shop to hold the receiver in place. It's thicker than normal tape, very sticky and provides a bit of cushion.

RE: Fail Safe

ok.. here's the deal... its not a t-fitting just the way the picture was taken.. standard routing of the fuel lines except an extra fuel filter.. I run clear tubing after the filter to see when the fuel reaches the carb when priming..
I run the temp probe loop just under the cooling head at the point where the head and the block meet.. this way the wire works well and doesn't get too banged up....
I use super duty velcro not the standard type and I used shoo goo to fix to the servo... I remove the venom unit alot and I still have the original velcro.. works very well.. I also used it to mount the venom failsafe to the front of the radio box with great results... I tried double sided tape but it falls off when it gets wet.....

I tried the modelengines failsafe in mine and it disagreed with the throttle servo so went to a venom and its fine
