thanks
i take it no one knows |
RE: Problem
Can you hear it shift or is it staying in first gear?
|
RE: Problem
sounds like the second gear might be stripped? what car is it?
When you say rev do you mean it gets to a point then just screams like the engine has been unloaded? |
RE: Problem
Thanks for the suggestions.
i emailed cen eariler in the week and they suggested that it could be the bearing, which bearing they were talking about i havent found out yet but ill get it. funny you mentioned the stripped gear my friend mentioned that this could have ben the problem. thanks for your help. Gary |
RE: Problem
Im guessing they mean the one way bearing that makes the second gear work... i wouldn't of thought it would be that because it would be more when moving from a stand still... its the same kinda bearing as in the pull start and when they stick you might know your pulling it and it will catch now and then.
I have seen it happen on a mates car where he used it in a very dusty place mostly which wore the bearing badly enough that when he gave it throttle the engine would scream while the car was hardly moving, then the bearing would grab, unleashing all that stored energy from the engine launching the car like it had a rocket in its exhaust..... fun to watch but the diffs/drive shafts wernt vary happy;) anyway this don't sound like its the one way bearing to me... how fast would you say the car is going when all this happens? has it always been this way or did it just start happening? |
RE: Problem
this just happened the other day when i started it up. i had it stored away over winter because the weather is really bad over here and when you go out your either get froze to death or soaked. anyway took it to the guy at the hobby shop and he phoned someone and he confirmed that this was the problem. i left it with him over the weekend and picked it up this morning. took it outside of the shop and started it and it was working fine. mystery to me and you if ask me. hopefully this wont need another changing for a while yet.
thNKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP |
