Why would you want to convert the metal shaft to plastic? I only heard of converting the telescoping to the metal shaft

Sorry Arizona_jay I missed this topic!!
I had the telescopic conversion on mine, but with the center lock in it didn't hold up as good as the stock metal shaft. I know there is a lot of wear on the GS094 brake drive cup when you have the center locked or not locked. But I wouldn't go for the telescopic conversion if you have the center diff locked!!!
Also if you have Spur Gear & Engine Plate Brace (gs097) on your genesis it will not fit!!

I do not have the center locked and do not plan to. I have read many times that with this conversion there is no problems at all. From what I see in the exploded diagram. The only parts needed for this conversion is ---shaft prt# gso4o, and brake shaft prt # gs039. I decided to do this when one of the tips broke off of my dogbone wearing a huge gash in the cup. Screwing up my brakes. The front has held up fine with no signs of wear...So explain to me why metal is better than plastic? Also correct me if im wrong about the parts needed. Thanks

You will need GS040, GS039 and GS043.
But if you have the center brace GS097 the telescopic shaft it will not fit ( i have tried) you will have to mod the center brace a lot. The center brace is located on the engine plate, and their is no room for the telescopic shaft there.
I thought that I didn't have any wear on my front shaft but when I dissembled it I saw that it was a lot of stress on the pin, it wasn't straight any more.
That's how my rear telescopic shaft blow, the pins seams to eat through the plastic, but you will not have any more broken parts then the telescopic shaft when it breaks. This was before I bought the center brace (Gs097). Now I run the metal shaft with great success.
Good luck to you, if you have more question just ask.
