Diff recomendations
Im about to rip apart my diffs on my MT2 for the first time (have to replace the broken diff cup) and was wondering if anybody had any hints on anything specific to look out for. All comments are welcome.

RE: Diff recomendations
One thing that I noticed with mine, is that from the factory, the diffs were not shimmed at all and the shaft comming out of the diff had a lot of play. There should have been a little package that came with your FF that has some diff shims and instructions.
Also, CEN was very very sparing on the diff grease on mine, the diffs were almost dry inside. Basically, just check for wear on the internal gears and especially the bevel gears. |
RE: Diff recomendations
The diff is pretty straight forward. 3 srews an WALAA its apart. As long as you have it apart I would clean out the bearings check that the
diff turns smooth. Listen to it if you hear crunching or grinding take the whole diff apart and rebuild it. I would wipe out all of the old grease from the diff and put some new grase in. Don't over fill the case with grease just a good coating on the diff and some on the inside of the housing. To much grease can heat up the diff and ruin it. After you clean the bearings lightly oil them and reassemble. While you have the diff case apart clean the out side with a soft bristle toothbrush and some WD 40 it will make your case look like brand new. |
RE: Diff recomendations
Cheers peeps. Had it apart and back together in no time complete with new grease etc.
