The servos that come on the Genesis, Nemesis and New GST 7.7 are 144oz. high torque. However the large wheels on the this truck requires alot more steering servo torque to yank the front wheels around while sitting still. More like the 333oz you will find in a Hitec hs5955mg servo. This a common upgrade on 1:8 monster trucks

good luck, but most of all have fun

I put this servo in my Geneisis LE and while it still can't move the wheels too well while sitting still is has more snap while moving.

I took the stock 144oz servo and put it in my RC10GT and if you hold the car up by the front wheels and turn your steering it will move the car!!
Dogman is right though with his advise. The 333 was a little too rich for my wallet though. The 200oz'er was bad enough and I got it on sale at $99.00.

I also ended up fitting tougher servos, only because a crash stripped my original one.
But the new one won't really turn the wheels when stationary.

But,..... Who needs to steer while stationary?????? ;)

you can always do a dual steering servo mod...

Well Bash, that is a very easy mod..you will need to gather some stock parts first.. the cheapest way to do that is buy the parts from eBay.. such as...

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CEN-GST-GENE...QQcmdZViewItem

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CEN-GST-GENE...QQcmdZViewItem

and finally

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Revo-Y-Split...QQcmdZViewItem

when you buy the steering linkage be sure you get all of the parts: the link from the servo to the bellcrank, the servo saver bellcrank and the aluminum post the servo saver mounts to.. you also need a servo arm of the same length as your first servo. But most important the two servos need to be indentical to match movement speed and torque. then you will need to remove your radio tray, cut the battery box from the bottom, remove the servo mounts from the top that hold the reverse servo(you will no longer be able use reverse), the finally cut a slot to mirror the OEM servo mount but dont cut the slot too big as to cut the material for the servo mount screws.

Now mount the new servo and the new servo saver on the opposite post with the arm facing the OEM servo saver arm. Attach the y-splitter to both servos and to the receiver. now match the length of the 2 links from the servo to the servo saver arms, now mount the 2 servo arms but be sure you turn on the radio to center the two servos in sync and be sure the arms are in line with each other, and screw the arms to the servos.

Thats it basically, besides adjusting the links and the servo throw on the radio.

here is a pic that might help

good luck!!! And have fun....I hope this helps

Cen has some pictures on their website.... PPman beat me to the conversion... it is very easy.. but I went a step up... I cuat a 3/16 piece of aluminum to fit the battery holder... then I cut it out in the center to fit the servo.. I tapped the holes.. and voila....

yeah, those are the parts that you will need dogman...

I have some more pictures..

RE: GENESIS steering!!

Thank you gentlemen! ( I use the term loosely of course)
Now I have another project to work on![sm=drowning.gif]
Actually I have the parts for the rear wheel steering that I tried but took off because my 'Genny flipped at the slightest turn that has all those parts so I will use those.
Good to know the money won't be wasted now.
Thanks again!!!

bash, I believe the servo for the rear steer kit is areverse rotation servo...You may need to get different servo, but I could be wrong.. if I am let me know since you have it in hand:D;)

Uuuuumm.....
Yeah, you are right Dogman.
Dang!!
OK, so I'll have to spend a little more money than I anticipated. That's OK, I'll just scale back on what I spend on the kids for Christmas for MY toys.[sm=lol.gif]
Actually, I might be able to modify the servo to work correctly, I may as well put that associates in electronic engineering to good use now and then!!
Oh boy! Another project!
Thanks!!

RE: GENESIS steering!!

Why don't you just use the reverse rotation servo for the tranny and just reverse it through the radio. That way it will work with the correc t orientation. You can then use the original servo for the tranny for your steering. Another option is to use a cheap servo for the tranny. It does not have much force. You can then use the tranny servo for the steering.
