What body are you going to run? I'd run that RTR body for sure but cant find anyone who has one so I bought a Crowd Pleazer for a Mugen. I'd rather have the CEN body.

Should have my FRE built by the end of the weekend.

What did you run in your diffs?

Thats good news. Do you think the servo tray is swappable with our Matrix's? That plastic just KILLS me.

yea i no i thought of that too.....well i took a good look at it just while there on the chassi but i didnt take it off but as im thinking it right now since the truggy is longer from the rear pretty much its should work the only thing thats you might have to do is drll someholes but im 97% sure you wont have to lol.....because if you got the pro kit it comes with 3 metal post that you dont need and it doesnt tell you what there for but there for the radio tray on the matrix buggy cause there the same so if you put the puzzle together it should work.......ill try it later today and post the results:D

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

HeadRush - I'd be real interested to know if the Matrix servo tray works. I have JR Z9000 servos and they dont fit in the plastic tray. Looks like the openings aren't square. They look like the long sides are warped inwards a bit. A standard JR590 servo drops right in with room to spare but the 9000's dont fit at all. I suppose when this plastic servo tray was removed from the mold it cooled and contracted inwards on the long skinny sides.

Let me know what you find... I'd rather not have to get the dremel out and grind on the tray. I have the tray sitting in hot water right now to see if I can get them to expand out a bit. But even if that works I wont like the pressure they will put on the servo cases when it cools and contracts back.

by the time i got to look at my truggy and buggy it was to late to get serious but i did find that the throttle servo MAY....im not sure have to be raised a little to make it work.
what exactly would you like me to find out...if the raido tray (carbon fiber) out of the buggy works in the truggy???[8D]

What state are you out of

My kit also came with the laydown Servo mount for the buggy as well as the 3 posts. Did yours?

Also, the transponder mount in my kit wont work with this radio tray setup. It doesnt line up at all to the holes. Not even close. I'd have to grind off 1/4" of plastic to get it to work.

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

yea i got the laydown servo mount and the 3 posts which i think is to do that conversion with the raido tray.....
im going right now to work on it and ill let you guys know in a few hours what i came up with.
and i talk to some of the guys from headrushhobbies yesterday and they said that that laydown servo tray is for the throttle servo but i think its for the steering so see what you can do and what works and what doesnt in the mean time ill try and figure out the whole set-up:D

DahlELama 12-31-2006 03:27 PM

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Headrush. I am sure the laydown piece is for the Steering servo. If you look at the Matrix exploded diagram it is definately the steering servo bracker/holder.

Let us know what you find out.

BTW - I am in Idaho.

ok i got the results the laydown servo tray is for the sterring and the 3 post is for the carbon fiber tray and YES it works/fits no mods needed you can get the carbon fiber raido tray at... headrushhobbies.com :D

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

ok the results are here the 3 post and the lay down servo tray for steering is for the carbon fiber raido tray conversion on the truggy and YES it will work/fit with no mods needed i tried every thing out and mesured and it seemed great so give it a try you just need to get a carbon fiber raido tray and i couldnt try it out on the track cause i need my buggy ready for a race in hemet so i didnt want to have it all apart...but the conversion works!!!!!!!!:D

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

dodamissc you are right about cens products from the past 5 years ago i just got into nitro and had a CEN mt2 and i hated it i spent so much on it i just hated so much.so i sold it for a whoping $90 lol and got a few savages a mgt a t-maxx and a x-cellarator and were racing those up in till the beganing of 05 and then the were all sold except for 2 savages witch i stll race there all raced out and everything but about at the end of 05 i met headrushhobbies and they are like a #1 authorized dealer for CEN racing so i started racing my savage with them and they were running all the other cen cars/trucks and were doing great at the races so i talk a little more about cen and in the past 4 years they have been coming out with top of the line racing products and the company and employees are great very nice and helpful and i swore i would never go back to cen and 3-4 years later im closer than ever to them and its great i LOVE the truggy and buggy they handle great and dont break easly for those beginers, thier VERY durable with great designing and enginering Thanks to Andy Smolnik Jayson Ashton and Gene Hickerson.......so trust me and everybody at cen and headrushhobbies if you get the truggy, buggy gst or any cen car/truck you wont be disappointed.:D

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure you are right that it will fit but I dont think it will work. I think that was the concern you had in your earlier reply. The TR servo tray raises the throttle servo up about an inch higher than the Matrix buggy tray.

Looks like I will have to break out the dremel and shave about 1/8" of material off of each servo opening.

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for pointing that out i forgot......when you put the throttle servo in just adjust the ball on your carb to be facing down (you should be able to find a little set screw to adjust that)and then you should be good atleast for me it was but if you have any problems just let me no and ill be happy to help you as best as i can

and yes either 1 of those raido trays you posted wil work:D

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

My biggest concern was the angle that the brake linkage would have to be at... Thanks again for digging in and helping me out!

I took the radio tray and forced a few sockets that were 20mm long into the servo cutouts. Then I boiled that tray like an egg on the stove for about 5 minutes and then let it sit for another ten. I took it out of the water and let it cool for the remainder of the hour and now the servos do fit. They are still a but snug. I'll go with this setup for now. ~e.

RE: GOT MY TR ARENA ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

Rob, if you use the standard Matrix buggy radio tray you will have a difficult time setting up the throttle and brake linkage. You will need some thick riser plates to lift the throttle servo up. Probably about 1/4" thick ones. You are better off using just the molded tray.

As for the included servo tray, that is the one meant for the steering servo. You were correct in guessing that, it is not meant for the throttle servo, though you could try cutting it to use as a riser plate.

As for engines, if you can, might want to think about using a .21 like a V spec or something along the lines of a competition .21 to get some fuel mileage out. Since we race at Revelation and there are few tracks where the power of the .28 will show up.

I put a Nova 528XR in mine, but I am thinking about using a .21 like a Nova Plus 21-7.

See ya at the track with Primo and the rest of the guys. Rob you should know who this is. hahaha.
