Hitec 5955 and 5995 differences

Happy I found this place. Tons and tons of good info. I see I'm not alone on this Genesis. :D

Lastest issue for me is the steering and the place I purchased by Genesis is saying they use the Hitec 5995 but I see others use the 5955.

Only differences I see is the steering arm on the 5995 is aluminum and the 5955 all seem to come with a plastic arm. Pro's/Cons to that?

I also see these are programable and come set with 180 degree. Do I need to adjust this for my genesis steering? I'd hate to have to buy a programmer too as they look to be over 100.

Thanks all!!

Ken

I'm not sure about the servos you mentioned, but...
After my Genesis LE steering and throttle servos failed (one electrically, one mechanically), I swapped them out for Hitec 5645 digital servos. The difference in steering is amazing. They are fast, smooth, and powerful. I read that they consume more power, but I haven't had any problems with a 1200 mah receiver pack and several tanks of driving on one charge (I gave up before the batteries did). The servos were good to go, drop-in replacement, with no external programming. For one or both servos, I think I had to reverse them via the transmitter. I used plastic arms on both servos.
