GST 7.7 Quick question

If your truck is sitting on the ground does it rool back easy if you push it? Mine keeps stopping like the brakes are on and sometimes it sounds like the gears are grinding or something? Is this normal? I can't remeber if it did that before my crash today or not, i havent used reverse yet because i lost the freakin manual so i have no idea how the truck reverses?
Anyway just wondering if it's supposed to roll back or not? I just hope by hitting the wall i didn't break something else.

Just asking because one time i ran my old Savage 25 into some concrete steps and it blew my rear differential, i have no idea how that happened since i hit the steps head on? Yet it messed up the REAR diff?

RE: GST 7.7 Quick question

mine only roll 3 or 4 ft before it stops and thats with the brakes off.the grinding may be a miss alined engine mount and the spur and pinions may not be straight. on a front end crash i would tear the truck all apart and check if i also bent the side plates, it only takes alittle to get everything out of wack.

What do you mean with the brakes off?

It wasent really a straight front end crash. The only thing that hit the wall in the air was the right front tire and it snapped the turnbuckles right away, but i understand what your saying. I have limited tools here though so it'll be hard to tear it all apart. Nothing else looks broken no bulkheads or anything, just the front upper A arm, and both turn buckles.

Yah i need to take it apart. I pushed the wheel back together and grabbed both of them and when i turned it it sounded like something was grinding :(
Dang i might have broken something else

RE: GST 7.7 Quick question

OK nevermind i do have all the tools.

So i pulled off the whole front end, checked the front siff and everything is fine. Looks like it's time to pull the rear off.

BUT first, how do i adjust the brakes? Maybe thats the problem, the brakes may just be catching?

i use rubber tubing, it acts as a spacer and as a spring. the only way to adj the brakes and the throttle is to turn the radio and the reciever on remove the servo horn and the set screws. with that all removed and the radio on center the servo with the radio install the servo horn like mine straight across and set all your adjustments. it will take some time to set up.

RE: GST 7.7 Quick question

i forgot to add the f/r lever needs to be pushed toward the motor, if its stuck in the middle you will have some grinding noise or no movement. also since you lost the manual go to the cen racing site and download the manual
http://www.cenracing.com/cars/gst/gst.html
just click on the link then you will see the manual and download from there, you need to remember you hit the front wheel of a 17lbs truck, you should be so lucky just to break a few parts.

RE: GST 7.7 Quick question

Alright so i did what you said and it seems like they were just sticking for some reason? Maybe because i ran the truck through water and mud and it seems like it's starting to make some surface rust on the gears or something. I didn't need to adjust it, i don't think the truck is supposed to roll back to much unless it's in reverse and then it seems fine. Anyway i THINK the problem is fixed, if i take the brakes apart, what should i use to clean them? Or should i just let it ride and once my new parts get here, drive it a bit and it'll eventually wear that grit off? I think thats what i might do? Thanks for the help, now all i need is one stupid front turn buckles buy i have to wait for the bidding to end over at the bay.
