Genesis bash session

1 Attachment(s)
Took the Genesis out today for a bit of bashing in a spot that Ive been meaning to go for a long time. It's only a 5 minute drive from my house at my farm. I've been avoiding it becuse I am a WOT driver and in the sand the engine RPMs stay up because its always spinning out, and I have been having such a nightmare with the half tank lean until this winter. THanks to TRDs check valve solution, it runs great now.

These trucks are absolutely amazing. at about 3/4 throttle it would go straight up the hill you see in the pictures. I never thought it would. I even had the truck going accross the hill at about 15 mph and it could still pull wheelies! (lock block installed)
All was going good other than it being very "clunky" at shifting into reverse.

Then I decided that it was a tough truck, it should be able to handle a 30 foot vertical drop right?
well, surprisingly, the only damage was a bent top shock, which I shouldnt really be running anyway, and a busted plastic front drive shaft and bent pin and the front brake disc screws got bent.
Something tells me I may have landed the fronts a bit hard. :D

And I managed to get my dodge truck stuck, had to walk just over a mile to the house to get a tractor, unstick the dodge, drive the tractor back and walk back to the truck. :(

Oh well, I can now prove that a CEN genesis can handle more sand than a dodge 4x4 [:'(]

Sorry about the poor pics, I only had my camera phone which was almost dead, and it was so bright out I couldnt see what I was taking a picture of. Its hard to get the scale of this sand pit form the pics, but its about 30+ ft high (vertical) and has a semi circumference of about 250+ ft.
Hopefully Ill get some better action pics soon and maybe some vid.

Dustin, You are very welcome on the valve..

Looks like a killer spot!!! And I just love the carnage. Bench Time!! The aluminum shocks seemed to do well except for top shock, too bad on that one. Time to get rid of top shocks. I dont run the aluminum shocks because I have seen the tendancy to bend, but...if you need the plastics for you front drive shaft let me know, I dont think I have any metal shaft parts tho. I would be happy to send you one of my spare shafts.

If you feel clunky on the reverse shift I would tear the tranny apart just to take a good look at the reveser slider for cracks or breaks before it takes out the rest of the tranny. You have some serious cleaning to do so now would be a good time to check the tranny..

You know why the Dodge got stuck dont you????

Cause its a dodge of course!!! JK

Anyway great fun!!! Glad you enjoyed it!!!

C-ya!!

RE: Genesis bash session

hey, thanks for the offer on the parts! I opened my parts bin, and I think I almost have enough parts to build a second truck. lol

The only reason I posted this is just for a sort of testemonial on the Genesis line of trucks. My savage would never have come even close to surviving a jump like that. It was insane! Ill make sure I have a good stock of parts and a video camera before I do it again though :D

Tranny looks OK, but I have a whole nemesis tranny sitting here, so i will just up it to a 3 speed w/ reverse and use it. Only part I dont have is the steel drive shaft, but thats a cheap part on ebay:)

And I threw off the alum shocks and put on some stock plastics for now with nem springs. You are right about the alums bending, the alum shock shaft is a full mm thinner than the stock shocks.

One question I do need to ask someone though, is what is the part number for the NEMESIS center diff lock?

The genesis one obviously won't work with the nemesis center diff. I swear I read about this before, but both RCU search and google have failed me. Maybe Im just braindead right now. But if someone could point me to the nemesis diff lock it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Dustin great choice on the lock block, the part number is GSS14 found [link=http://www.nitro-rc-car-parts.com/gss14.html]here![/link] You could also order it from [link=http://www.headrushhobbies.com/estore_dtl.aspx?pid=561&catn=Genesis/Nem%20Upgrade]Headrush Hobbies[/link]

Hey dustin7837,

That's some serious sh#* you are tackling there! [X(]
As you said, just goes to show how they tough those beasts of ours, really are!

The thread you are chasing is this one, (I only knew cause I had it saved on my PC for future reference),
[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3867333/anchors_4954922/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#]Diff lock[/link] In particular post #6 by CEN Racing.

THe diff lock will give you overall power increase (wheelie down the street..etc) due to eliminating the center diff from diffing. However, the drawback is the parts will be put under more stres.

GS013 - Genesis
GSS14- Nemesis

They are not compatiable.
