diff baking and other ?

I'm about to clean my GST diff so I can toasteroven it:), and was wondering what kind of cleaning everyone did before sticking it in at 200. WD-40 would probably light up, unless it sits for a few days and I don't want to use soap because of the barings. Also when I rebuild should I use assembly grease or the diff fluid for the outer gears? Why is there a hole in the cup for the center shaft diff? Thought that was a closed system. Does the nemesis center shaft diff cup have a hole in it also?

How many people have steep hill climbed with there GST? The runway isn't the greatest, haven't tryed but the truck takes off fast. I was thinking 300k center, 60 rear and 50 front but might go 120k to try and keep the nose down if I get trigger happy.

Thanks.

edit

I don't have any degreaser that I can find, and I'm feeling lazy and not going out untill tomorrow.

I finaly found the page I had on my old computer, mineral oil was what I wanted to try cleaning the diff's with.

My fav cleaning solution for metals is "Brake Kleen" or any other brake parts cleaner.

If you want to strictly hill climb, I would definately stiffen up the fron diff, but if you plan to go racing, you'll probabaly end up with some serious understeer.

I never run with anyone so I'm trying to setup for jumping, mudding, hill climbing and flat open areas. The smaller places I go there isn't room to open the truck up, it's more like a dirt crawling place. But I can still get air with a short runway, haven't tryed that spot with the cage on yet.

Baked my diff for 45 min at 250 and could only get the screws out of one side. Think I'm going to use fire[>:] for the next one. Should of did the diff oil when I first got the truck, cheap stuff in there and cheaply put in. Teeth are starting to get eatin. And a fat cat that rolled in chalk, water didn't take it off:)

How do cat's clean the top of their heads anyway?

Use a butane torch or soldering iron on those screws, that's what I do.

Fat boy get's his head licked by his brother, other than that it's funny watching him try and clean himself.

I wonder if the 0-800 in 1 second soldering iron will work. I think it just arks to get the heat so if I try I'm going to use my temp gun to see how hot it gets. But most likely I'll use my flexable turbo jet lighter or the torch for a bigger blast of fire[sm=lol.gif].

Soldering iron with a pencil tip on the screw head works well . the ones on my Matrix TR bellcrank were almost like they were welded in and it got them out.
