STEERING BINDING UP???

I have a matrix buggy. Started out as RTR, now its at least an FRE. I have gotten into experimenting with new servos. During this process I noticed that my steering is tight, too tight, almost binding. If I manually operate the knuckles back and forth by hand it is too tight. I recently put new CNC steering knuckles on it. it SEEMS as though the little collars that sit in the hub carriers and the mounting hardware for the knuckles cause the knuckles to bind when tightened correctly. If I loosen the upper and lower mounting hardware for the steering knuckles it is much better but if that hardware is that loose it will most certainly fall out under the vibration of running.. Have any of you had this happen adn if so what can I do about it...? THANKS!

Use some blue thread-loc and don't tighten them so much... maybe this will help. Keep in mind thread lock takes 24 hours to cure properly

I can tighten down the knuckles all the way and I still have 3mm of play. Make sure you use the special washers for the knuckles.

RE: STEERING BINDING UP???

Chrobar,
Yup, for sure. I am using those collared washers but they dont seem to be doing what they should. I can see that the screw is supposed to lock down on that washer and allow the steering knuckles to still move freely. In my case... the screws still hit the plastic hub carriers! Plus the geometry of the mounting screws for the knuckes in relation to the hub carriers seems to be off and that seems to be causing some of the binding. VERY FRUSTRATING! Not sure but I have used a lot of blue loctite and backed the screws off enough to let the knuckles move more freely. I am expecting to lose the screws during driving now. Weird.
