Broken tranny

I broke my reverse gear on my genesis today. After replacing the main shaft and finally getting the thing to run, the truck jumped out of forward and into reverse breaking the gear, the shift block, and the double gear on the main shaft. Can the genesis be run without the reverse gear?

Had that happen with my MGT wich broke me from ever buying anything else with reverse. My LST2 had reverse, but I totaled it in a fairly short amount of time.Good luck.

Well I got a complete trans from ebay, so I installed that and made sure the springs on the shift linkage were tight when they shifted into their appropriate position. I was wondering though if I should use a piece of fuel line instead of the springs on the linkage. I like the idea of reverse for a basher so I want to keep it on there. Most of the time I run in my back yard so there is not a whole lot of room there and the reverse comes in handy when jammed up against a fence.

The springs are ok, Just be sure and set your end points carefully. That shift arm is easy to snap off ... I know from a brain fade :D

Springs are fine, I use fuel tubing for a more positive "feel" while shifting. The one thing you need to keep in mind while using the reverse is to be absolutly sure the truck/wheels are stopped before shifting, Thats how the reverse/tranny gets busted.

Yeah I know, mine was just jumping in and out due to improperly adjusted springs, from when I repaired the tranny before. I think might replace this troublesome motor though.

well after trying to run it yesterday I think that I am through with this engine. It's time for a new one. It would not start to save its life. I have tried going to a hotter glow plug and setting the needles to factory settings with no luck. When at the factory settings I have fuel coming out of the front of the motor. I talked to the lhs owner and he says that there is gonna be a small amount of air leaking at the bearing due to tolerances, and I have a very small amount almost no bubbles at all.
