Default emoli,s

Hi all,
my emoli,s have arrived, but i am still a bit confused to how many cells to use in my swift, the swift has standard sport duration motor and castle creation phoenix 60 amp esc, what do you think would be best ,4s pack or 5s pack.

Keep em flying.

I am not familiar with the CC60 esc, but the instructions that comes with it should say what the max voltage it is designed for. Generally lipo battery packs are rated at 3.7V per cell:

4S = 14.8V, 5S = 18.5V, 6S = 22.2V

But I believe the e-molis are rated slightly lower at 3.6 or 3.5 volts per cell: e.g. 4 cells would be 4 x 3.6 = 14.4V

Minimum of 6S perferably 7S.

I realize that this question was asked a while ago but I'll throw in my $.02 for those looking at the Swift.

The emoli cells are much limited in the current they can deliver. If you try to run anything less than 6S you'll need to draw more current than the emoli's can deliver to produce enough power. You can get by with 4 or 5 cells when you run a LiPo capable of 40 or 50 amps continuous. My tests with 7S emoli packs on an airplane showed about 22V under a load of about 35 amps. So you could safely use a 7S pack where it's recommended to use a 6S LiPo. My Swift with a Tango 45-10 and 7S emoli pack weighs about 5.4 lbs and flies pretty good with this setup. For hard 3D (which I'm not into) I'd probably go with a 6S LiPo.

BTW, the Swift is a nice heli which I highly recommend!
