Better landing skids

So today im landing to what i thought was pretty gentle well the right side landed a little harder than the other and snapped my skids off on the bottom on front and back, i have a spare set.

But what i want to know is their a better brand? or something from another heli that will work? i can modify if needed. i thought about cutting out some lexan and making some ( stuff is indestructable)

i know i seen one on here with some other skids on it. any suggestions would be just great thanks.<br type="_moz" />

RE: Better landing skids

It would help if you told us what model you have.

Century makes many different helis. All have some pretty good landing struts except some of the earlier Swift electrics.

The ones in the lower picture are from their Hawk. They work well but I like to keep the tail rotor higher off the ground, like the stock Swift struts do.

The ones I use are these heavy durty Swift struts.

Stronger and keeps the t/r higher.

RE: Better landing skids

Worth considering is that the energy in a crash or hard landing has to be dissipated somehow. If the gear is not designed to dissipate these forces, they will be transfered up into the frame and may cause them to break. It is far less expensive, and a lot easier, to replace the sacrificial landing gear struts then a mainframe piece.
