Classic Pattern Contest - Lancaster, CA - Feb.10th, 2013
I just want to confirm that on February 10th, 2013, I will be hosting a one-day Classic Pattern contest at the Antelope Valley Tailwinds field in Lancaster, CA. You can get more info on the Tailwinds at avti.org.
The day before, Saturday, February 9th, 2013, I will be hosting a one-day AMA/F3A Pattern contest. So if you fly both, come on out for the weekend and let's have some fun!
Classic will fly the current CPA Patterns which you can obtain at http://www.classicpatternassociation.com/. I will not be running Pre-Novice, but will be running all the other classes.
Hope to see you there!

Scott, what more info do you need? Let me know and I'll get it to you.
BTW, we currently have a scoring program that does CPA and the Masters pick-your-own pattern. It may have to be updated with the new schedules. I'll check with the Greear's here as they do most of the scoring.

Tony, Jon, and Jamie,
February 10th is my wife's birthday so unless somebody kidnaps her for a "girls day out" I won't be able to attend. Sorry, I sure enjoyed the one in November.

Chris,
I am hoping to have Baldi's old Escape refinished by then, and my Sonic 500 (quickee 500). Your brother hooked me up with that Escape when I got into pattern wayyyyy back, and I flew the Sonic 500 in 2 pattern contests prior to getting the Escape.
For the Saturday contest I'll have an Element 2 meter that I got from Jarvis, and my son will have a Sequence that just got finished. Trimming both when the weather gets better here.
I still would like to make an electric classic pattern plane, I've been all over the board with what to make, but the best idea is one that Tony had, wonder if I could get mine done before him, so it doesn't look like I stole his idea......LOL

Hey Jamie.
I'll be down for the AMA show. Probably going to head down Wednesday night and stay with Greg Meierhoff in Vitorville. Talking with Frak, may come fly at Lancaster Thursday, Friday and Sunday.. Not sure, but maybe..

Chris,
Probably??? Oh heck no, you need to make that a definite!! I have a 35ft guest house out front that you are welcome to if you come down. Not sure how the AMA show is going to work out for me yet since my son's football banquet is on Saturday afternoon, but I will definitely be checking out the show one of the days. I prefer Saturday, as I want to attend the judging clinic. Anyhow let me know if you will be out, and again you are more than welcome to crash here.
And as a side note, I got the blessing to make a sweet classic plane!! Gonna be picking up the short kit at the show!! It will be AWESOME!!

Just wanted to bump this up to remind everyone of the contest!
There's been some interest in the club in the Pre-Novice class, so that will be flown along with the rest of the classes. No need for a classic pattern plane. I'm going to allow just about anything in Pre-Novice and after that if it fits the intent, it's good to go.
For you Masters fliers, pick your pattern then stick with it for the day. There will be no changing after the 1st round. That's asking just a bit too much of the scorekeepers.
Hope to see you there!

Tony,
I have been monitoring the weather report for Rosamond, and it looks like it has been good (meaning no high winds). I am going to buzz out there tomorrow for some practice. I have not flown much classic pattern this year, and I need some stick time!
C ya,
Robert

Man, I am absolutely sick that I can't make it out there tomorrow!! I am buried in the shop. Gotta be responsible I guess. I am hoping to clear things out and make it out there on Sunday.
