'87 F3A Worlds/G. Naruke/Aurora 60
Hi All,
I have just finished a ground up restoration on a vintage MK Aurora 60 kit. It was built by Sparky4460 and is a fine piece of craftsmanship by him. All the hardware has been updated, new servos, and everything else. Originally it was covered in monokote and my summer project was to strip and fiberglass it. Now, it's in primer and sanded to 1500 grit and ready for paint. But, I need your help. I would like to paint it like the Aurora that G. Naruke flew in the 1987 world championships. (picture below) Is there any chance that anyone would know what the underside of this airplane looked liked? Any pictures from 86 or 87 would be great. It was famous for having a variable pitch prop. Have the best painter on the East Coast ready to paint it. Thanks in advance -ken

Wow, this is soooo close... I can only see the airplane with the rainbow pattern. I'd like to paint the black/pink/red one. You can see it in the opening stills and as Naruke takes off, someone walks past with the exact plane, but you can't see the bottom... I think this plane was his backup plane and not primary. A lot of folks have built the primary one, but I'm going for the #2 plane. Thanks for this. If worse comes to worse, I can use the pattern from the primary plane and use the back-up colors!

Hard to believe that the pattern would be different on one plane to the other. just the colors chosen. Amazing how clean the plane looks inside. Looks brand new and maybe it was, but the Japanese fliers were known for their immaculate planes.

Very clean inside. Thx for the heads up there, glad I stayed for the entire video.

The video shows pictures of the Aurora in the beginning, but the flying is of the Silent, and the plane at the end is something called a Sky Rolla. Never heard of the Sky Rolla before... If there is a photo from the Aurora box showing the bottom (or plans), you can see the scheme and swap the colors accordingly.
