RE: List of Classic Pattern Kit Manufacturers
Don't forget that Bridi aircraft is selling the Dirty Birdi 60 too. Go to Wing Manufacturing for the right canopy though. The one they send with kit looks like crap. LOL. Get the ck 604 canopy from wing Mfg, and you have the original classic look of the DB.

I wanted to let everyone know that the e-mailaddress for Carolina Custom Aircraft has changed.
Due to the miracle of DSL the new address is [email protected]
At present, the kits 8178 listed are still available and I am getting ready to put out a couple more of the vintage birds. If anyone has any questions on my planes, please just send me an e-mail and I'll be happy to help.
Think I'll do a T2A build on here.....

Patternguy,
The Mach One is on hold for a bit because the fiberglass fuselage I acquired for it was (quite honestly) as crooked as a $3 bill ! I am going to make a new plug and mold... but it is not as simple as taking a fuselage already made and making a mold. I will get to it... but there are 3 planes ahead of it. If anybody has a GOOD Mach One glass fuselage I will happily work out some deal with them to make a mold. Otherwise, I'll just have to do it the hard way. That goes for other planes too. I REALLY am trying to find a Banshee fuselage. I'll keep everyone informed as progress continues.
take care,
Dan

Paternguy,
Next one coming available will be a fiberglass/foam Senior Falcon. In the 60's this was kitted by Action Industries. I have the mold painted, and will probably lay up the fuse this weekend. As soon as the mold/templates check out I will draw up the plans and it will be on the brochure. I have more projects than time.... but I am trying to get to them as quickly as I can. Now, if you can get me a Mach One glass fuse I'll make sure you get the first kit FREE !!......
take care...

I didn't even know there was ever a glass version of the Mach 1 made. LOL. The two I had were the balsa version from Midwest.
I do have a Bridi UFO fuse though.

RE: List of Classic Pattern Kit Manufacturers
I wanted to add this link for another manufacturer of pattern kits. They may not be "classic" in the sense of a Kwik Fli or Kaos, but many folks like the pre-"pregnant guppy" era of two stroke pattern planes from the early 90's popularized by makers such as R/C City. I know I do.

SOMEONE needs to consider a Phoenix V or Phoenix VI. The Phoenix V was a dominator on the pattern circuit 72-74 and is hard to beat flying wise.

RE: List of Classic Pattern Kit Manufacturers
I contacted Wing Mfg. and here is the great answer I got:
"Jeff,
The rumor is true. We have acquired the original molds for the Phoenix 5 & 6 (as well as about 10 other vintage pattern planes) and will be offering them very soon. We have the wings and stabs cut and are just putting the final touches on the fiberglass techniques for the fuselage. The first two kits offered will be the Phoenix 5 and the Vertigo II.
I have added your e-mail to our "interest list" and I we will send you an e-mail when they are available (probably November).
Thanks for your interest,
Dan Gipe,
Owner "
Things are looking up for classic pattern kits.

RE: List of Classic Pattern Kit Manufacturers
Saw your posting about older pattern planes. Can you help me locate an old plane that was made from plans only. It was not a kit. The plane was called an NXS. I hear it was featured in an old Model Aviation News magazine from the late 80's
Any thoughts?

RE: List of Classic Pattern Kit Manufacturers
Need to add Eureka Aircraft to the list....
www.eurekaaircraft.com
We have the following SPA legal kits available, along with other kits, including a 1/3 Scale Cherokee.
The Troublemaker
The Eyeball
The Banshee
The J-Bipe
All are from the original kit productions.. Original J&J Mylars, dies, die transparencies, ETC. No copies or clones here! 90% of die cut parts are converted to Laser Cut. Ribs for a the Troublemaker and the J-bipe use the original dies since they are still functional, although they will also be converted to laser cuts as time permits.
Foam wings for all are or will be available.

Just a note:
A couple of the websites listed have been changed, or are no longer active. After the article on SPA was written, I learned that Dennis Hunt at Zimpro has a new e-mail, and Tony Howard is now retired. I don't have the time right now to research Dennis's new web site, but may be able to do so later on.

Anyone have any information on how Wing is coming along with the items from Early R/C models, and the old skyglass stuff ? I sent Dan an email a while back (just after toledo I recall) but I did not hear back.

RE: List of Classic Pattern Kit Manufacturers
Bob, I spoke with Dan this weekend and he is currently shipping all of the Early RC Models kits now. I just finished up the Andrews H and S Ray and he is working on getting that kit ready for shipping. I have the Tri-Squire, Little Tri-Squire, Mambo, Sr Skylark single and twin engine, and Tauri prototype kits in the shop just need to be built. The Perigee is almost ready for the first prototype to be cut. All of these will be for future Early RC kits
. As for the Sky-Glass kits he said he is very close to finalizing his fiberglass process on these and should be producing product soon. Give him a call. He had a computer crash and just recently got everything back up and running.
