Default AircraftIdentification

Does anyone know what this is? If so, opinions of it?

Thanks

Kurt

Hi,

That shadow on the nose is making things a bit difficult, but I'll have to go with a Sig Komet. This was Maxey Hester's pattern design kitting by Sig. That deep fuselage and squared off tail give it away... Anyone else?

I agree that it looks to be a Komet but as Dan said the shadows are hiding a lot of the detail.

Well, here's a shot of the original Komet. Sure looks the same to me.

I once owned a How-To booklet on getting into RC. It featured a kind of 'build thread' on the Komet.

Great, thanks. They guy wants $115 for it with engine. He says the engine has a big K on it and a perry carb so I'm assuming it is a K&B .61. He doen't think it has ever flown. I've been looking for an older pattern ship but this may not be the right one.

Thanks for the info.

Not necessarily - might be a Kraft 61 like this but fitted with Perry carb.

What RFJ said... the big K and the perry carb means it is an early Kraft. 61.. I have 2 of them and they are great engines... parts still available thru MECOA.... now.. what I WANT is that Sterling p-63 (silver plane) in the background.. what does he want for THAT !!!????

take care,

Dan

Dan, av8rsodt (Brian) has the Sterling P-63 plans drawn by Maxy Hester. I'm sure he would let you copy them. he also has the original construction article. It explains how Hester used it for both pattern and scale contests.

Indeed I do... if you would like a copy of the plans let me know.

Neat plane. Someday I will get a P-63 built.
