How hard and expensive is it to find this kit?
A price range?
I fly the 40 size and would like a larger, is there a 120 size?
Thanks
Philip

I don't understand why anyone would pay this much for an old kit when this
particular airplane is so easy to build from scratch, it couldn't be any easier.

I agree when Bridiairplanes sells the Utter Choas 60 and Killer Choas 60 kits for only $85.00 when available. The utter choas 60 is supposed to be available again in 60 - 90 days. Always modify a ultra sport 60 and leave off the turtle deck.

Thanks to all for the tip. I did follow the Kaos on ebay and was amused by the final price. I guess not all folks now about this site and other sites that share info on good or alternative buys on kits?

People pay what they want to pay. If it's worth it to you, then the price is OK. For some vintage kits, people will pay quite a bit for them. After all, look what prices people pay for Bakelite jewelry...which was considered "cheap plastic" in the day. Now they're collectors' items. Same for some of the vintage kits. A new-in-box kit from the 60's or 70's (or whenever) that is no longer made can be quite the find.
...and remember, a lot of people would rather build from a good kit than cut out the pieces themselves.

Hey Bax, I agree beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
What do you think are the chances of Great Planes rekitting some of these kits? The 60 Kaos, The trainer 60, and the Goldberg Cub now that, as I understand it, GP owns the rights to Goldberg?
Thanks
Philip

When I was selling insurance, my time averaged out to be worth $200 per hour and that was over 15 years ago. There is no way that I could cut out an entire Kaos in an hour. Some folk's time is worth a lot more than the time needed to scratch build models. This is especially true if their interest in models is mostly in flying them, not building them.

Not so much cutting the parts out, but a lot of wood in older kits may need to be replaced. I keep my kits in my dehumidified, basement workshop. Not all kits are so lucky
I built an original wood Dirty Birdy kit about 10 years ago. I had to replace a lot of wood (either warped or rock hard) and the canopy was permanently deformed (probably from too much heat) and got replaced with an all wood version.
People pay a lot of money for unrestored old/antique cars; then pour more into them to return them to original condition - whatever you enjoy
...of course some people play golf and I don't get that at all

I purchased a kit at a fly in her in Enterprise AL for a great price but it had no plans or instructions. It’s an Ultimate Kaos, the specifications are:
Length: 58-1/2 in.
Area: 692 sq. in.
Engines: .45-61 2-cycle or .61-91 4 cycle
Span: 62 In.
Weight: 6 pounds
Radio: 4-6 channel
It was made by Direct Connections R/C A division of Capstone Hobbies. I was hoping to find someone who might have a set of plans and/or instructions.

Don't kid yourself, building from plans is very expensive! When was the last time you went down to your local hobby shop and found everything you needed to build a plane? I ended up having to order everything online and pay for shipping. The cut foam wings cost more to ship than they cost!!!!! Don't get me wrong. I enjoy building from scratch. My Kaos 90 is almost done, and the pride of having the OLNY one at the field is well worth the cost.

The new shipping prices from carrier's is making it very expensive to ship something line foam wings. Bulky and but light weight. The price of balsa at the LHS doesn't make it cheap to scratch build.
