I’m looking for a set of plans for the Southern R/C Tigertail. Does anyone have a scanned copy of this classic Pattern Plane? I flew one back in the early 80’s and would like to build another one this year. Thank in advance.

You can get plans for the original Tiger Tail from the AMA plans service. You can order a reprint of the construction article at the same time. I guess AMA picked up som of MAN's old plans at some point or another. I just got a set of plans and the article for myself.
Good Luck,

HI,
The Tigertail 4 is a larger model wingspan is 70 inches and fuse is longer as well. Model looks close to the origional but overal 10% or so larger. designed for tuned pipe and all built up balsa and ply. No foam wing and stab. I have plans for both the Tigertail 4 and the origional Southern r/c Kit. Somewhere there is a person that is kitting the fiberglass and foam Tigertail 3 which is in between the origional and the 4. All are great models and fly very well.

Yea the Tiger Tail IV I''m finishing my second one that currently is glasses sanded and ready for the first coat of primer.
About the Tiger Tail I'm really glad to learn Model Aviation has the plans available thats ah nice,I might just do one more Tiger Tail :after all I have only built ONE Tiger Tail the rest have been variants or what ever, I started out with a Southern RC Products ''Bob Cat" ,which was a 40 sized Tiger Tail original model. Any way what a flier I loved it and when I replaced the 1975 model )S 40 with an HP 40 weighing only 9.75 Oz I think it was it made the ''Bob Cat" preform for its day and time.

Just found this thread. My first pattern plan was a Tigertail back in the 70's. I remember flying it until the batteries went dead one day (I was very young and did not know any better) and for some reason they do not look or fly good after landing on thier nose. Had to dig the engine out. Built another on in the late 80's. Can not remember what happened to it. I still have the horz stab. Have been wanting to build another one and recently acquired a new set of Kraft electric retracts which would go great in this plane. thinking of a built up wing in lieu of foam. Have a Super Tigre 61 for the plane. Richard: The pictures of yours look great and brings back many memories. I never entered any contest and do not intend on doing so. For me nothing flys like a good old pattern plane.
