RE: Old Pattern Planes Available
Get some plans and cut out your own kit, or do a google search for SPA pattern kits. there are a few kit cutters that have old style pattern planes.
as for as bidding up the old pattern planes, I agree, I gave up and am going to kit my own or I might have a kit cutter do it for me.

Go to famous auction web site in unassembled kits. and type in in search box , Arrow Tiporare, Atlanta etc. see what you get. They are out of my range already and they have days to go. I am scratch building my 10th SPA plane soon. Cost about $ 75 bucks plus my labor.

A little help here. I did a search for "r/c airplane" and came up with 12 pages, not a one of which has any classic pattern planes.

I have nearly given up on the Bay. There have been so many changes in everything for no obvious advantage to the end user, that I am sick and tired of learning a new way to list or search for things. Every time I have a search somewhat figured out with things not to include, they shorten the list of things you can list to not include. They have forgotten who their customers are and what is good for them.
There, I feel better. Whew!
My PP kit is lost in the dungeon of ARFland (former two car garage). I'll get to it eventually and get it built - someday. My original PP (.15) has remained the best Lomcevak maneuver performer in all of the years I have been modeling. Not just my model, but better than all I have seen performing Lomcevak maneuvers. It truly would tumble end over end and made a heck of a loud noise in the air while doing it. I miss my PP. Er, sorry about how that sounded. 8>)

Ed Cregger, I agree with you about that auction site. For no good reason they have changed the format. Frustrating!
Speaking of Atlantas, my wife keeps b****ing that I have one and a T2A in our spare bedroom closet. Also, another one in storage. If she saw these prices, she would be making a down payment on a diamond.

AMEN on that. Prices for old desireable pattern kits is just getting ridiculous. I hope the people that buy these kit actually build them. It seems a waste to let them just sit around collecting dust. Not to change the subject but I just test flew my electric Dirty Birdy in 15mph winds on a chilly day. The results were really excellent. Using the new Scorpion 4025-10 Motor with a Zippy Rhino 3700 mah 6 s battery and 13x10 prop, the plane flew almost as good as my OS 91. I will now try a 14x8, and 14x10 to see if there is even more room for improvement.
