Looking for El Tigre Plans and help
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows a source of plans for El Tigre by Dennis Donohue. I saw one fly years ago and always wanted one and not too many guys built copies. ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
Jorge

Jorge,
Not sure if this is any help - rather a poor scan of the El Tigre plan from the July 1974 American Aircraft Modeler.

RE: Looking for El Tigre Plans and help
Hi Ray,
Thank you so very much, this is a great start. I think if need be I can work from these. I am going to take your scan into work and see what they can do to scale it for me. Can you see, does it say the actual length and span anywhere. This way I can let them know.
Again thank you, I have always loved this plane. Does anyone kit this one? I see Eureka has some great oldies, but don't see this one on there.

Jorge,
The tailplane span is 24" and the wing span is 60". Useful scaling dimensions to use are the elevator & aileron chords which are both 2".

Hi Jorge
I my experience with a good table A4 or A3 scanner it is possible to scan in high resolution old drawings from RC magazines and then resize the raster image in a drawing program so it is in proper scale. Then You can plot to PDF in correct scale if you need. I have done this a couple of times and result is very good. So if that drawing in July 1974 American Aircraft Modeler was scanned in even higher resolution then was posted it would be no problem to use that as a good starting point to have a full scale drawing to build from. I usually scan in 1200 x 1200 dpi when small drawings in a Magazine and that capture details fine, file is rather large then (in TIF) but managble by todays modern computers.

Hi,
Little history about the plane on the competition arena. Denis Donohue competed with El Tigre at 1972 US Masters Tournament (for selection of theUS 1973 World Championship team). He had starting nr 11. I do not know what place he finished. Some pictures below from the US Masters 1972 and El Tigre/Denis Donohue. Source: Model Airplane News January 1973 except the equipment table and last picture that is from other (unknown)magazine.
