I have recently acquired a Brushfire at a local swap meet. Does anyone happen to know the CG location on this classic?

BTW, note that this is a scaled down version of the plan for a .10-.15 sized engine. You can scale it up if you wish to the full size (use the wing span or some such).

The PDF link works fine for me. Sometimes PDF's take a while to open.

Kbarko,

rather than left clicking, try right clicking and select save link as... This will save the file to your hard drive rather than try to open it in your browser with the Acrobat plugin.

It's a PDF file so you will need Acrobat (or similar) to view it.

I checked the link to confirm that it works. It also seems to work for Ralph so the file is there.

On a side note. How do you right click on a Mac?
I tried dragging the link to the desktop to save the file but that still doesn't work.

Kevin,

on an older mac with a single mouse button, hold the Ctrl key down while clicking. It is equivalent to a right click. Then select "save link as" using a regular click (no key modifier). If you have never used contextual menus on a mac (typically accessed via right click), you're in for a pleasant surprise! Right clicking is very useful on computers.

Newer macs today come with "location sensitive" mice meaning that if you click on the right side of the mouse you get a "right click". The mice themselves actually have no "buttons" per se whatsoever.

Perhaps the attached JPG will help while you figure out the PDF download. As you can see, the CG as on the LE of the fixed landing gear block. Since the plan is not to scale, I can't tell you X many inches from the LE.

Actually, if you tell me what the exact wing span is tip-to-tip, I can scale the plans back up to full size and re-post them. Those plans will be a little more useful if you need them for making any repairs on the model.

Still no luck with the pdf thingy.
I tried saving the link as etc.
The thing keeps saving as a web page link instead of a file.

But I did get the wingspan on the plane which is 68 inches.

what computer and OS are you running? You are control-clicking on the link and not on some other area of the page right?

You know what, I bet it's your browser. Are you using Safari? If so, try Firefox. It should sort things out.

Frankly simply clicking on it should open it up in your browser. Also, make sure you have Acrobat installed on your system and make sure that Acrobat is the default for opening PDF files (rather than Preview I think it's called).

You need to be able to open attachments if you're going to be navigating this forum! ;)

I scaled the plans back up to original scale. According to the scale provided on the plan, the wing span would be just shy of 65" - actually about 64-2/3". Your model appears to have a certain amount of curvature on the tips which could mean that the builder added rounded tips to the wing bringing the wing span to 68".

In any event, the new Brushfire 60 plan posted here is in accordance with the scale provided by Ken Bonemma (the designer).

Almost forgot:

The measured location of the CG is 8.75" from the TE which is constant at the root and at the fuse side. Since the wing tapers at the LE, it is hard to know what the distance of the CG is from the LE.

In any case, it should balance just forward of the LG like many trike classics.

Thanks a bunch on both fronts!
The browser was the problem with pdf.
I broke in the new piston ring and bearings yesterday so with the CG in hand I will be test flying this weekend.

I suspected as much. Glad you were able to download the plan.

I had the idea of building a mini 40" span Brushfire with an inverted Webra .12 RE and pipe. A little silly actually but the design and engine are just so cool!
