Here's some photos of the box labels - note the 'MKII' stickers covering the place where Don Coleman's name appeared on the Joy kit box. Also. the plans show NO information regarding the retract installation, even though the box indicates that the MKII version is a retract enhancement - I guess somebody goofed.

RE: Don Coleman's Cutlass Supreme
Will, I had the same kit your showing, unfortunately I sold it a long time back but I do remember that there was a seperate set of plans that showed the retracts ,they were about 10"X14" in size. from the picture looks like the nose gear retracts into the wing should not be hard to mod. the wing so it will fit. Will, I guess the pictures on my box have been torn off over the years. The plans look to be the same however. Does your kit come with the Robart aileron tourqe rods? Scott, Thank you so much for the pics, I greatly appreciate it. I am hoping to get started the first part of next week. Mark</p> |

If any of you on here, know of someone that wants this kit, I have listed it here on RCU. I hate to let it go, but I have to.

I'm happy to report this kit has found a new home, thanks for all the information in this thread, it will make the build that much easier.

Just found this thread. I was an active RC modeller between 1965-1975. I am starting back again as my granddaughter has a lot of interest in aircraft.
Around 1970 I built a Cutlass from magazine plans. I flew this plane for 3-4 years until the wing broke in half during flight (most likely caused by some previous "hard" landings). It was my favorite pattern ship. I found some old photographs (date unknown) that I have scanned and attached to this thread. |
RE: Don Coleman's Cutlass Supreme
Nice Cutlass John you do know that when you build your granddaughter a cutlass or classic pattern plane that she has to pose with it ;)
