Classic Pattern
 

I have a NIB Runaround kit stored inside a closet inside my house for a LONG time. Along with it is a YS-91 NIB as well. Anyone know the value of this kit & engine? Circa 1990's

There was a Runaround Kit posted in the Classifieds about a year ago that sold for $125 bucks. I personally think the price was a little low and should have been worth a bit more around $200. The motor should bring you anywhere between $175 to $250 tops.

For special markets like that, it's insane sometimes what folks will pay. I sold two Futaba 8ASSP single stick transmitters for close to 2K not long back, but they we're almost like NIB. For the average guy, a LEO plane of close to the same size you can get for a little over $200, is a no brainer, most newbies wouldn't know what to do with a box of wood, JMO.
One of my Buds flies one of those planes with a YS 140 on the nose, it scats :).

Just wondering if you are Doug from Lancaster CA.  My Dad knows you from his drywall hauling days.  Used to race the T-28's.  Anyway, if you still have that plane I may be interested.  I am still in the AV and a current member of AVTI.  Hope to hear from you.<div>

Was there two different sizes of Runaround? Jon Lowe fly's one in cpa with a Hanno .61 on it and it seems to have plenty of power.
I bought one last year at Perry and I don't think a 140 would fit in mine.

If memory serves me correctly there were two sizes. 90 &amp; 120. This is a 90 size, hence the YS91 4 stroke.

Ok well that makes sense. I couldn't hardly see how a 140 would work. Maybe with the all the servos + the fuel in the tail :D

The Hansen Model's Runaround and Runaway; the fuses were the same for either the .91 or the 120. This design dates back to 1989-1993. The YS .140 was not invented yet; (1996). The Runaround had the straight taper wing and the Runaway had the double taper wing. The wing size determined the engine plant used. Versions included; 750, 850 and 925 Sq inches. I have built several of them and still have a Runaway. I hope this clears up some confusion.

I think J Strong was referring to the Nitroplanes Leo F3A that his friend has with a YS 140 in it. My buddy has one too with the same engine, I think people use it because it's so easy to run compared to a 110.
