Hi
Today I've got my hand to get the plane in the pictures from my friend, but! I don't
know what is this plane' what it's name, history etc, etc,
all I know, it was powered by Hanno special, and now I have to fit it an engine.
I'll appreciate all the help to identify the plane.

Thank you in advance
Avi

It's a Summit III... (Sweet Plane!!)

Here is a photo of the LA-1 (top) and Summit III (bottom). Also a copy of the Summit III assembly instructions for reference.

I agree. It's a Summit III. It looks EXACTLY like the one a friend of mine has.

Hey Chuck,

You need to build that Summit III, drop one of your YS60RE's in it and go have a blast flying it.......................:D:D:D

Hey Guys
Thank you very much for your inputs.
It is defiantly the Summit 3!

By whom it was designed? when? (I'm going to do a search but I'd like to know more)
What is the best engine fit for the summit (I like speed)? It was powered with Hanno special
and the fact is, I don't have it, and my preference is to use something which is shelf item,
so, what are your thoughts about the nova rossi 61 re?
another option is the Jett engines.
I'd like to hear your opinion for the best engine fit.

Thank you in advance
Avi

It was designed by Canadian Ivan Kristensen. I'm not sure of the exact timeline but I think he designed the Summit, Summit II, Summit III and Summit 120, each were refined versions of the original Summit. I'm pretty sure that "progression" would have been from the mid 80's through the early 90's.

Ivan seems like a really neat guy judging from what I've read about him, He's a very accomplished F3A, IMAC and full scale pilot (see his blog: [link=http://www.ivankristensen.com/]Ivan Kristensen[/link] ).

I bought some Hanno engines and other stuff from a guy here in Georgia who flew pattern in that era. He flew a Hanno powered Summit III and said it and the Desire were his favorite planes of all time. He flew the original Summit and later the Summit III. He said the III was a much better plane...

I don't own any of the Nova/Rossi or Jett engines but I think either would be an excellent choice from what I understand. I have so many classic pattern engines already which is the only reason I've never bought one of the Nove/Rossi engines, otherwise I would definitely own one. Then...The Jett...well it's just a work of art...I would love to have one...

Here are some pictures of the Summit, Summit III and Summit 120:

RE: I need help to identify....

Hey Atlanta 60
Lots and lots of thanks for your response is so detailed.

Now, I have to repaint it and to fix some minor things to make it flyable again,
and to fit it an engine.
To tell the true... in the first when I took it, my first thought concerning the engine was to install
the Rossi 105, which I have without using it for long time, and to make it almost like a rocket, but! it is too much!
The work to make it , and for the plane in regular it is way too much!
I have to think which engine to choose, the novarossi or the jett.

Again... thank you
Avi

Hello Avi,

The Summit III that my friend has is powered by a YS60RE which is PLENTY of motor for the plane IMHO. Therefore, I believe either your Nova Rossi or your Jett will perform very well indeed................:D

Good luck with your minor repairs and new paint job. Keep us posted with your progress.

Thank you David!
Thank you a lot for your input about the summit.
It will take me a lot of time because now I'm nearly to finish another classic pattern bird, the Benito Bertolani Komet.
and now I'm in a stage that I really hate, the endless sanding for the finish before painting,
microglass and resin, primer etc etc. and this stage takes me more time then the building time.
So, who knows when I will begin with the summit.

Thank you
Avi

BTW, I saw some pictures which the Summit is with nose and mains gears and some with tail daggers, what is the deal?
What is the original design of Ivan Kristensen, because according to my inspection, to convert it to three gear it will
be a big pain in the ..s
