exhuast system is in place. pretty easy

Really is a clean installation. Now to add the silicone tubing to dump the exhaust out the bottom of the fuselage.

just a remark,

In my Magic there was an air passage from the engine compartment through where the 'S' header went up to the top side of the fuselage ,this air helped keeping the tuned pipe and that area under the cowl cool .

i was thinking i was a little to tight in this area ,plans show large rectangle opening.

I was thinking that instead of a rectangular opening in the firewall for an air passage maybe a couple of aluminum tubes on both sides of the header to keep it clean. Another thought is a couple of fiberglass wing tubes running from the engine compartment into the pipe deck for air circulation to keep the clean looking setup. Awesome job.

It appears with the air scoop in front, the only way for the air to get out of the cowling is through the pipe tunnel. When I flew the Magic back in the 80's I made the hole around the header pipe as large as I could. I also enlarged the exit holes in the rear of the pipe tunnel to draw air out of the plane. The engine, header and pipe are going to get quite hot, you need to get plenty of air moving through the structure.

Ditto on all of the cooling suggestions. The paint bubbled on the turtle deck on mine with its first flights. Increase the opening at the front or the turtle deck piece quite a bit. You want at least a 3/8" high opening. Open up the area in the firewall behind the engine head as much as you can. Increase the size of the hole around the header on the top of the fuse (A big square opening) and add a baffle behind the header in the fuse to direct the air up into the turtle deck. Enlarging the area of exhaust at the back of the turtle deck won't hurt either. The engine exhaust was routed through the fuse and exited the bottom on the originals.

It seems to me that the problems will even get bigger if the airintake is larger than the airoutlet.
This might lead to a heat accumulation in the structure.So I think one should focus on the biggest
possible air outlets.

Hi, I'm fredman2 and have been a "researcher" for these type of planes. Trying to get info but I also see the dates of the posts. Have been looking for info (specifications of each plane" like the Super Curare, Magic and the similar style planes). I'm not looking for spa legal, I'm a fan of upsized versions (80"-100" wing span). I found a short kit for a Simla given I"m a huge fan of the original Taurus given that was my first plane I build in 1963 from a Top Flight kit. Would appreciate any guidance. Thanks, Fred

Wow, just when I ask a question on the Super Curare specs, I do another search and find the info on Aero Composites. I'll do a comparison with the original Curare and compare. I'm having a hard time getting info on Curare XXL. I thought maybe the 'super curare' might be the same plane but pictorially the XXL looks larger and closer to what I'm very interested in. Any guidance here would again be much appreciated. Again, thanks to all. Fred
