Bill Hempel Vulcan

The plane appeared in the December 1970 issue of RCM. I want to get the plans, but I have heard that the plan service has had some serious problems. Is there another source for the plans or an individual with a spare set willing to part with it?

Try Rob @ Hobby Barn in Tucson, AZ for the fiberglass version of the Vulcan. He has the mold.

Thanks Pattern One but I would like to build the balsa fuselage. I still enjoy making balsa, thanks for the response though.

Interesting! Just yesterday I spent some time with long time RC buddy that flew the Vulcan back in the early seventies. It was his first pattern plane, or at least the first one he won first place with. I believe he had a Phoenix 5 after that. We looked it up to see what it looked like since I'm not familiar with it. Really nice design, let us know how the build goes Airacobra.

Hook 57 as soon as I get the plans printed I will start on some things with it. I have an OS 61 longstroke that's like new that will go in it.

I actually still have a flying Vulcan from the 70's. Lanier briefly made a version as well. If you are talking about getting the plans from the RCM plan service, yes, they were a bit slow but I think that's because there is only one or 2 people doing it. Anyway, I found that that Jeff Moses cuts the cores and stabilizer. I got mine from him and they were pretty good. I can't find any active reference to him on the internet so I checked some prior e-mails. He may not still be doing this but the contact info I had was Moses Lake, Wa. 98837 on Pioneer Way. Phone - 509-855-3463.

Pattern One - I've contacted Hobby Barn "sales" so we'll see what, if anything, they say. Do you still believe they have the Vulcan available or can make one? Do you have an e-mail for "Ron"?

Thanks!
