Does anyone know what kit this plane was built from. It's bout 64" long and has a 74" wingspan. One piece foam sheeted wing. A distinguishing characteristic is the wing tips

That's Wolfgang Matt's Saphir II, most likely from a Model Tech ARC kit. The wingtips are a dead giveaway. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1426728

Thanks Jim. Glad to know what it is. It's complete except for the canopy. Need to look for one that will work.

Nice.

Yup! What Jim said - a Matt Saphir II.
Designed for an inverted long stroke (pumped) RE engine (e.g., YS 61 AR or OS 61 RF) and pipe or alternatively a 120 4-stroke. David |
I'm thinking a saito 125 would be real good in this plane

It looks like the beam mounts are setup for a soft mount of the MK style given the bolt separation. This likely means that there will be a thrustline offset wrt the beams. Lacking the soft mount, the engine will have to be raised off the beams with plates or hardwood.
Just a guess. David |
Thanks for the info. How thick are the soft mounts?

It could also be set up for the Dave Brown Rubber Tab type mount which I think was similar to the MK. The DB mount was based on, or was exactly like, the Von Linsowe mounts. Looking at the DB mounts, it appears his are pre drilled for 4-strokes now.http://www.ohio-superstar.com/dave-b...4-cycle-mounts
