1960 World Champion Orion colors?
2 Attachment(s)
I am interested in finding the correct color scheme for Ed Kazmirski's Orion that he won the world championship with in 1960. This article:
Ed Kazmirski`s Orion Classicpattern has the primary color as blue. The markings appear to match that of the airplane he used. However, all the other planes I have seen by Ed such as other Orion's, Taurus, and Simla have red as the primary trim color. Confirmation of the correct color is appreciated. This is the plane in question: |

Ha, that blue one is a clubmate's (wonderfully built) Orion. It has been photographed for this article at ClassicPattern.com because there aren't any color pictures of Kazmirski's original Orion.
The original Orion, with trike landing gear, is in the AMA museum and it is red, see picture made in July. Coincidences... |
Thanks for the information. It is helpful. As the red scheme is almost a Kazmirski trademark, I will go with that. A reed radio is the only type of radio I have not flown, so I converted a Controlaire 10 to 2.4 and am considering building an Orion in the scheme I noted above.
Thanks again. BTW....has anyone used the Lazer-Works short kit for the Orion? If so, how was it? |
Here's a thought
Top Flite kit RC-1, ORION....KIT *Price Reduced* - Kit (ID: 1122653) |
Thanks for the link, but think I will stick with the short kit.
