Wow, a 10 year bump. Not that the bump is a problem, I get a build thread to reread.

I was surprised to see it posted on the Outerzone website. They are also using a picture of my Blue Angel for the Blue Angel plan.

I still have the Cold Duck with its original K61 engine. It has been through a few radio system starting with my original Futaba 9C and then in 2008 the Futaba 12FG. In 2015 a FrSky radio system and most recently FrSky 24 Channel ACCESS systems. Started with a 600mAh NiCad for power, then a 2600mAh NiMH and now 1500mAh Life. Neat that our RC technology continues to improve.

....

Outerzone does have all sorts of old plans, and some modern drawings of old designs.
You can also send comments. Your model being in one of their photos might be of interest.

Mike, I recently 'won' a one hour instructional lesson at an Extreme Flight event raffle at our club (ngmarc.org). My instructor, Extreme Flight pilot, Antonio de Souza, flys with the PowerBox Systems' 'Core' transmitter. The list of incredible features on that radio would go on for pages here if I knew enough about them to list them. Now I understand why you switched from Futaba. What an amazing radio.

The Core is pretty great especially its RF link features. We have some really amazing RC technology to chose from nowadays.

Finding a Life battery that would work in my pattern aircraft was harder than I thought it would be. I wanted battery that was around 1500mAh, a good C rating, didn’t have a gazillion different power plugs hanging out of it and would fit in the battery space in my aircraft. Some folks use higher mAh ratings, but I think for me 1500 will be OK.

I’m currently using Gaoneng GNB 1500mAh 2S 10C/20C LIFe Batteries from Banggood. They ship to the US only using ocean shipping so it takes forever.

For charging I use the same ISDT Q6 Plus 300W chargers that I was using for my NiMHs. https://alofthobbies.com/isdt-q6-plus-300w.html

Updated Cold Duck image. The only modifications I made over the years is change the ground stance, so it sits level by making the main gear effectively shorter. I did that by adjusting main gear wires outward some and then rebending axel part of the wire to compensate for the outward angle.

Last year change the radio system to a FrSky Tandem X20 Pro (orange)

Mike
