MK cosmos 60
hi guys... just got a classic plane... the mkcosmos (FREE:D!)
flew it and realised that slow rolls were real easy 2 do man,an enya61 rear exhaust with 11.5x10 yoshioka prop for power....very adequate and i can honestly say tt the vertical is almost unlimited . .....will post pictures soon;) |
RE: MK cosmos 60
Wow, a free Cosmos. Very nice flying airplane. The first time I flew a Cosmos was at a contest. It wasn't my airplane. I was borrowing a friends as the frequency I was flying on had a LOT of interference. I actually started flying the sequence with my MK Joker when it went crazy. Fortunately I was able to land without any harm to my Joker. I really liked the Cosmos, but by then the Aurora was the plane to fly.
Enjoy ! |

Looks just like a Blue Angel with an inverted engine and pipe tunnel....

RE: MK cosmos 60
Most of the MK pattern planes looked a like along the lines of the Blue Angel.

RE: MK cosmos 60
That is a really good looking airplane, both of them! I have the plans for a 20 sized from the MK kit, but it is missing the wing layout. Do you think you could take a photo from the top of the plane. I have the wing ribs needed, I just need the actual shape. A 3 view would be plenty. I would appreciate any help.

If anyone has a Cosmos 60 canopy to spare or for sale, please drop me a line. I just ordered an Aurora 60 canopy and belly pan from Singapore Hobby and while I was at it, I included a Cosmos 60 belly pan in the same order to make the substantial shipping amount more worthwhile. I also wanted a canopy so I could build another Cosmos but the the problem is that they no longer have canopies for the Cosmos.....and won't be getting any more in the future. Comparing my MK Cosmos and Aurora plans, the canopies are similar but not quite the same with the Cosmos canopy being a bit more round and blunt.
Here is a shot of the Cosmos I flew approx 20 years ago while stationed in northern Alberta, Canada. I essentially learned how to fly serious pattern using that airplane and put a ton of fuel thru that Webra longstroke rear exhaust. As you can see in the one photo, she was a tired airframe near the end of her life. As I recall, the belly pan slowly fell apart, the bottom of the rudder was chewed up, etc. Great airplane though.....can't beat those MK kits!! Steve Rojecki flew it one day while visiting Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake and just shook his head afterwards mumbling something about it being too fast! I'm glad I kept the plans for it. Jeff |
