Bobcat
Does anyone have or know of Bobcat kit forsale? The Bobcat was the the little brother of the orignal Tiger Tail.
Thanks Jeff |
RE: Bobcat
Sorry, I had two of these kits I sold in the past year...I was always looking for other Southern R/C kits & stumbled across these- they are out there. Good luck in your search.

RE: Bobcat
DOHHH!!! I have been looking for awhile, not looking hard, but on occasion. I would like to get one before Christmas for my dad. He had on new back in the 70's(I was 3 or 4) and it died on the first flight due to battery taking a dump on him. We have moved on to bigger and better now, but he needs more than one flight on a bobcat!!

RE: Bobcat
I have a Gator Flea kit which is from the same era but haven't seen a Bobcat for a while. I have been looking for a Southern RC Compensator kit with no luck.

RE: Bobcat
There was a compensator for sale very recently. I don't think it was even for a huge price!! I dont know much about the gator flea. I have a NIB Tigertail though. I also have a Zigzaw Atlanta ready to finish. I can't wait until I get that one finished.

RE: Bobcat
A Gator Flea is just an 80% size Compensator. We used to put HP 40s and retracts in them and they went really good. I liked the big Compensator so much that I just never built this one. I found the kit stuck back in a closet when I moved last summer along with several other things. I also found an original Graupner Cirrus 3m glider kit from the same era.

RE: Bobcat
I loved my Southern R/C Prod Bob Cat too I wish I had a picture its been quite a while since I had one

Hi Gordie
part of your message to Bobcat mentioned tyhat you had "found an original Graupner Cirrus 3m glider kit from the same era. Gordie" < Message edited by GM1 -- 12/14/2005 12:16:18 PM > . I am curious to know if you are wishing to part with this kit? Thanks Alan "Shenven" |

I can't wait until I get that one finished. just wondering which Tiger Tail kit-- is this the original "Southern R/C Products one I think it had a wood fuselage built inverted on the bench and a 'single wing skin centered and then first adhered along the Foam cores leading edge. adhered with Southern R/C Prods. Sorgum, which I do believe Dave Brown Prods. currently markets;its great stuff I sheeted my existing Tiger Tail going on gosh--21 years now and NEVER has the skin shown 'any' tendency to pull away from the foam core. Really it is great stuff but once the two surfaces are contacted the bond is instantaneous! A picture of the kit would be way cool as they say..:D |
RE: Bobcat
I bought this particular Cirrus kit is the early 70s before they stopped importing them over a "glue" issue. This kit is the third one I had and the other two were both fabulous flyers for their day. I am not planning on selling the Cirrus, instead will build it for nostagia contests. I would sell/trade the Gator Flea for a NIB Southern RC Compensator.

RE: Bobcat
I dont have any pictures of the kits. Yes, I said kits, I have the wood version and the 'glass version. I am a horde!! lol Also have access to a vertigo and have a Phoenix 5 that needs rework.

RE: Bobcat
Hi Jeff, Are you interested in parting with the wood and glass Cirrus kits. I still love building models, especially the older gliders, I have heard of pro's and con's on both kits, only one way to find out is first hand knowledge.
I can't say I know of the other ships, but then again, that is what we have the internet for :-) lol Thanks Jeff Cheers |
RE: Bobcat
wrong guy, Gordie has the Cirrus kits. I have the Tigertail kits.

See if this works a picture of my last Bobcat taken back in 1974. I still have the wing but would love to find the plans to build another fuselage for it.

RE: Bobcat
W,
You have just provided the answer to a question I have had for over 20 YEARS !!!! I have a fiberglass fuselage that No One had a clue as to the identity... and now.. with your pictures I am certain it is a Bobcat... One thing is different though.,... my glass fuselage has the canopy molded into the body. Can anybody verify if this was correct??? Anyway... I would like to get a set of plans/dimensions so I can complete the little booger sooo... if you have any plans, I would love to have a copy... and I can send you a picture of my fuselage. Not quite certain how to turn a glass fuselage into a wooden one.. I usually just make a mold and then go from there.... Any help would be appreciated..... I would really like to get that plane in the sky.. I have been carting that fuselage and it has survived 4 moves and is still with me.. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow for further verification. thanks all, Dan Carolina Custom Aircraft |
RE: Bobcat
I do know that the tigertail glass fuses had the canopy molded in. I didn't even know there was 'glass bobcat. You should make a mold. I think you can get the wing cores from what used to be Wing Manufacturing?

RE: Bobcat
There is a Bobcat on Ebay for sale now if anyone is interested.
Jon |
RE: Bobcat
I know there was a Bobcat on Ebay. In fact I apparently outbid you for it. I had the winning bid at 132.50 until I got sniped, it went for 202.50 Wonder if it went to some who can appreciate it. The Bobcat had a sheeted foam wing but but a built up balsa fuselage.
I just checked the member list on here. It went to 333993 who is a member here. |
RE: Bobcat
I am trying to find Bobcat plans too, I have a perfectly good wing left from a crash in 1974. But the plans for both Bobcats I build disappeared in a couple of moves.
|
RE: Bobcat
I just emailed the Ebay winner.. and begged for a set of plans.. so.. If I hear from him, I'll get you (and anybody else that wants them) a set. I'm really happy that there is a kit with plans around... Let's just see if I hear from Mr. 3333.......
more later.. I hope.. Dan Carolina Custom Aircraft |
RE: Bobcat
The name 333993 shows up on RC Universe, apparently has a hobby shop in Miami. I would love to have a set of plans.
|
RE: Bobcat
I have plans for the Bobcat. I can make copies for those who desire. If interested PM me and I'll see what I can do.
|
RE: Bobcat
Timing is everything in life, the two Bobcat kits I sold 2 or 3 years ago barely brought $75 and had
little interest. |
RE: Bobcat
Really surprised at the interest here I had 3 Bobcats (all glassed and K&B'd for paint... heavy but resembled a jet in flight with an HP40:D
|
RE: Bobcat
I was a little suprised that two last minute bids came in that high. I figured there was not a lot of interest in the kit and had left my max bid at $150
|
RE: Bobcat
There is always a chance of one showing up at Perry Ga next month. I too was surprised at the end price. I have a bid in on the Troublemaker as well.
Dan, are you planning a web page for your kits?? Jon |
RE: Bobcat
My Bobcat wing is the same, balsa over foam with sorghum for glue. It is 32 years old and it still looks like new.
|
RE: Bobcat
For those who have PM'd me for Bobcat plans, hopefully this weekend I'll get to Kinko's and see what a copy will cost. I'll let everyone know then.
Thanks! |

Yep and I got it

RE: Bobcat
Great, be prepared for some expensive shipping costs from Canada, probably in the $20~$30.00 range. Some one was going to buy a tower koas kit from me and ship to northern Alberta (quite far north) .... +$30.00 CAD.
ORIGINAL: Wblakeney Yep and I got it |
RE: Bobcat
Shipping was $25 but total cost was less than what I was prepared to pay for it. One went for $202.50 without shipping back in January of this year. That and my Kaos 40 were two planes I enjoyed very much.

RE: Bobcat
I hate you! (Just kidding)You beat me out (Richardh7443)Congrats on the buy.I guess I better be ready to pay alot more next time.

Just thought you guys might like to see something that I've been carting around over 20 years.. and that is a fiberglass BOBCAT fuselage. I've got the plans and plan on doing a foam wing for it. A few (LOL) projects in front of it, but it will get done (LOL)...

RE: Bobcat
Bill, any chance we could buy a copy of the plan from you?
Frank |
RE: Bobcat
