Looking for scoring software

I'm going to CD my first pattern event soon, and am trying to find an excel spreadsheet or other software to use for scoring. I downloaded PACSS, but I don't like the fact that there are over 350 pilots already listed in the contestant database and I can't delete them out. I'll be lucky to have 30 pilots here in interior Alaska show up for this event, I don't want to have to search through 400 names to find them!

Thanks, Mike

RE: Looking for scoring software

Let me get this straight, you would not use software because it may already have the data you will have to input anyway? It takes me literally minutes to create a new contest with Pacss and add pilots. Having the pilot data already loaded is a godsend. http://www.f3a-israel.com/CSMS.htm has an excel spread sheet for FAI, at http://www.nsrca.org/d8/ D8 has a file you use with excel for AMA classes. I am the one that entered a lot of the data in that program as the scoring manager for the 2005 NATS. I have used the program for local contests in D4 and I can tell you, it is fast, accurate and provides a lot of extras like tear sheets per round for the pilots, that actually gives a print out of the maneuvers with the scores. You can also print your score sheets with the contestants name from the program for every class. It is up to date with all the P07 and F07 Fai maneuvers as well.

I do understand that being from Alaska there may net be any names already in the list. Do not let that stop you, you add the ones you need to and select them for the contest. I use it for pattern primers where I get all club guys and it still only takes me minutes to creat a contest.

I would suggest giving it a try, it really is not a hard application to use. If you would like some help email me at my home address of [email protected].

RE: Looking for scoring software

Well yes and no... I can guarantee that I'm not interested in deleting information that will have to be re-entered, and while you all would be welcome to join us this Memorial Day, I feel safe in saying that not one person entered in that database is going to come up to Fairbanks Alaska for this competition. Last year we only had about 15 pilots compete, so while PACSS has terrific features, something simpler would do very well for us. In little bit that I played around with PACSS I found the initial event setup burdensome, because it wanted insert pilot names in, that I then had to try and delete one by one, and several wouldn't allow me to delete them. After about 1/2 an hour I thought to myself... I really don't need something this fancy for such a small group. In the past a #2 lead pencil as served us well, I just thought it would be nice to do it on the computer.

Thanks, Mike

Take a look at www.f3ascore.com

Fairly new, but proven to be stable , user friendly and a lot of functionality
