Identify the Modeller?

We've had 'idenitfy the the model', try this one. Just for fun! The picture below shows a modeller holding a pattern ship he designed in 1966. Any ideas? I think you'll be surprised.

Yeah, there was an issue of MA awhile back with a history of scale article. It had some early pics of Platt. That does look like him based on the way he looked in those '60s photos.

Well that didn't take long! Dave is probably not known for pattern ships but this one is called the 'Kingpin.' The aircarft was superbly finished but I suppose you wouldn't expect anything else from 'Mr Scale.'I've been meaning to build one for years but never found time. He left the UK some years ago and now lives in Florida, UK's loss US's gain!
Well done, I thought that would have taken a little longer!

LOL, Dave helped me get my AMCO diesel going at a SAM Champs a few years back. He & my dad were pals from the R/C scale battles in the late 60's.

Dave was responsible for getting me into the hobby. I remember watchng him fly his Kingpin when I was a lad and thought that's for me!
